Warner Bros. Pictures has shifted back the release of Richard Kelly's The Box from a November 6 release to a November 25, 2009 release. From the director of Donnie Darko comes a new genre-bending thriller that's based upon the short story "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson. In other news, Sony Screen Gems' remake of The Stepfather has been rated PG-13 for "intense sequences of violence, disturbing images, mature thematic material and brief sensuality." The film hits theaters October 16th.

I just watched the Twilight Zone ep 'Button, Button' this morning and was reminded of how excited I am to see a feature-length version of it. Not so crazy about the casting of Diaz though. The Stepfather is a film i think you can still make disturbing and pull off a PG-13. I do prefer the R any day.

Can't wait to see The Box and The Stepfather. Mostly everybody disses Screen Gems films, but I enjoy them for their entertainment value. The Stepfather is made by all of the same people who made Prom Night (same director, same writers, same studio, same rating) so it's pretty definite it'll get slaughtered in reviews.

Are you kidding me PG-13!!! That's bullshit!! Just because they want to make sure all of the damn teenagers can go see their movies. BULLSHIT!!! I want my sex, blood and gore. Let the little kids have their movie. You don't make horror movies PG-13!!!!

I am so DONE with these PG13 horror films. It is all about money- Prom Night SUCKED- ALL PG13 HORROR SUCKS. They are IDIOTS. The original Stepfather was pretty damn good. It was a real "sleeper" type horror film- Not particularly gory, but very scary with a great climax. The Box should be interesting. It shot here in Boston last spring. I actually rented them various equipment for the shoot.

The original was back in the 80's. It was an ok movie, but hell now they could really do a lot with this movie to make it better.

i think the original stepfather will finally be released on region 1 dvd since the remake is coming

The original was good. It's based on John List who after decades of being a free man for killing his entire family, got caught by "America's Most Wanted'. PG 13 sounds weak. Much like a Lifetime movie. VERY unsure about this.

By the way, you all are welcome. I totally restrained myself from making Cameron Diaz's "Box" jokes.

i thought that originally back when they were talking about making it the director clearly stated it was going to be rated R. I guess he is full of shit! After prom night i will never pay to see a pg13 horror/chiller whatever you wanna call it again!!!!!!!!!!

The original Stepfather is a fantastic thriller, tense and scary. I doubt the remake will be.

PG-13 ratings are hard to gauge here in the UK because they can fall either way under our BBFC system... 12A or 15 certificates. If they fall under the latter then usually, the gore/violence quota is pretty respectable because a lot of harder stuff gets passed at lower ratings these days, at least on this side of the pond!

I like PG-13 horror when it's done well. I'll be checking out The Stepfather when it hits theatres with the same hopes that I had going into The Uninvited. (And I enjoyed that one quite a bit.)

It was so obvious this was going to be PG-13. It's what they were shooting for all along. PG-13 "horror" is what Screen Gems makes. I'll still see it. I love Amber Heard. It could at least be entertaining. PROM NIGHT sucked though, as do most of these PG-13 movies by Screen Gems. This will probably be the best yet, which isn't saying much.

The box sounds and looks very strange and I loved the original Stepfather but hated the Prom Night remake this film is coming from the same director and its PG-13 so I'm not setting my expectations very high.

I won't see PG13 horror films that need to be sugar coated to suit the younger audience. The best part of The Stepfather remake will be that we should finally get a region 1 DVD release of the original so I'm grateful for that.

with the state of the economy, do kids really have so much money now a days that hollywood is still pandering movies to tween audiences? hollywood, parents have money too and spend it. make movies for adults for fuck sake.

This is going to suck as much as When A Stranger Calls. Notice how I didn't say Prom Night like everybody else? :P
