We caught up with Feast franchise director John Gulager who took some time out of his busy schedule to chat about monster movies, rubber suits and Feast III: The Happy Finish, which is now available on DVD everywhere. During the interview, Gulager broke the news on a trio of projects he's developing, all of which can be read about inside.
While joking with director John Gulager about how many projects Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are working on, he revealed that the duo came up with an idea that his brother is in the process of scripting.
“Marcus and Patrick work on everything… even things you don’t know about - not to mention the Saw films. But yeah, there’s something called The Good Doctor," he reveals to Bloody-Disgusting. "Marcus and Patrick came up with an idea and my brother (Tom Gulager) is writing a script for it. We might do that in Canada, but I’m not quite sure.
"Then my dad (Clu Gulager) wrote a script for a Western that's ultra violent, vile and it’s so out there, I don’t even know how to shoot it..."
Another film that's been long gestured is The Neighbor, which Gulgar still would like to make.
"Then there’s one called The Neighbor that we were trying to do before these Feast movies," Gulager continues, "and it didn’t quite work out and so we’re trying to maybe revive it a bit – I know that’s hard in Hollyweird land. You know, they don’t like to revisit movies that didn’t happen. But that’s kidna too bad because we put a lot of thought into it...”
When we broke the news on The Neighbor few years back, we were told it followed a Texas/Mexico border guy who runs immigrants into the country and becomes tangled in a scandal... where torture is involved.
Watch for the full interview with Gulager tomorrow and pick up Feast III in stores now.
fuck these people I love feast alot but its pisses me off to high hell that simple people can make movies just because there relative, it really is a no everybody buss. Fuck it.
This guy is a worse director than bret ratner. Fuck this guy he should not be allowed to make films at all. The only reason the first feast was slightly good was because he didnt have total control. Look what happened with 2 give a jack-off control and its shit. I wont even bother seeing three. Did anyone watch when he was on project greenlight he was a fuckin baby boo hooin about everything. FUCK YOU JOHN GULAGER!!!
feast III is way better than part II, but the first will always be the best no matter what they do, it's just that way. but I had a blast watching part III and im 100% certain this site will give the 3rd a negative review, but if you were borderline on part II, you will like III, if not oh well fuck it, i liked it and that's all i care about
I loved Feast, but II was one of the saddest attempts at making a film that I have seen. I am hoping III will be better and even though I despised 2, I'm glad I saw it if for no other reason I know for myself that it does indeed blow.
I'm still not understanding all the hate for Feast 2, i mean come on, this delivered a lot of things that were so unexpected. It had gore, humor, it had tons of artistic nods (yes the blue/green screen stuff was done on purpose for all of those idiots complaining about it)
I dunno....
the same people complaining about feast 2 give the Saw films good reviews...., or even that piece of crap Hatchet. How can you even take the movie seriously enough to let it piss you off? It's a cheesy, fun film......
The movie worked in my opinion, but there ya go, in the end thats all it is.
Just someones opinion.
To idiot posters and John Gulager .. All 3 Feasts were AMAZING .. the 2nd and 3rd being so much better than the first... My favorite horror films are The Evil Deads and Underworlds', American Werwolf in London, Trailer Park of Terror ... Gulager is a Directing Genius .. These movies were so over the top and funny and gory .. These are now in my favorites collection... Mexican midgets, monster rapes, pipes through the skull... the baby scene moved me ... Im sorry ... but some people just dont get artistic directing... the expect cookie cutter horror .. Not with Gulager ... he is a visionary and unlike anyone else and his family works great on film !!! To the haters -- sorry you lack artistic values To Gulager -- Keep on doing exactly what your doing !!! Tom www.safaritom.com
