Well this is horror after all, and in this genre it is common to give 'shout out' to horror fans (I still question how many of those actually frequent this site, seems more like horror haters) by casting genre faves and horror icons, like Englund, Moseley, Tony Todd, Gunnar etc.. It shows that in part the movie is being made for the fans and their geekness (and I say that positively) is being recognized and pandered to. And of course certain names create hype, that's why they are cast. It's not like Tom Cruise or Will Smith are the end all be all of acting, but their names create interest, buzz, and ultimately revenue in A Grade movies. Movie making is a business, and marketing is part of that business. God forbid a director makes choices that might generate interest to real fans and make him money. Gasp, the shame.
As for the releasing of names, yes, maybe that is to also generate ongoing interest, keep the movie in the news, or maybe its just the sites job to keep fans posted as news becomes available. Why is this so hard to understand. Its just common sense, it's nothing to get yer panties in a bunch about... seeing as you all are the ones reading the news and generating talk about it, and really really investing yourselves into something that makes you so irate.
