Paramount to Release Eight 'Friday the 13th' Blu-rays

This past Tuesday Paramount Home Entertainment released the original Friday the 13th on Blu-ray, while sticking parts 2 and 3 on DVD (again). We learned over the weekend that Paramount is already prepping to release a brand new box set including the first eight Friday the 13th films on Blu-ray. Much like the 2004 DVD release "From Crystal Lake to Manhattan", the box set will include the first eight films, as Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs Jason were made by New Line Cinema. No word on if they'll be uncut or not - let us pray.

I wonder if the new set will be bluray only. I have the other set and love it but do wish the films were uncut.

now all we need is the elm street collection in blu-ray, imagine how cool parts 4 and 5 will look in blu-ray with all those cool visual effects. back on topic, im glad the friday fans are getting this, i love the orginal film and will buy that on blu-ray for sure! KM

Good for Paramount. I like how they've announced this so soon after releasing part one seperately on Blu Ray. That way I can buy the same item from them mulitple times. Well played.

Screw Bluray for something like this. The movies aren't exactly HD pretty. For movies like this, I would much rather pay less for dvd.

i have a bad feeling that this set will suck i sure hope not i am really hoping part 7 is uncut and that all eight films are on 8 separate blu ray discs not two movies on one disc like the dvd set

I hope this is legit. if so, it is great news for us fans. I bought the Blu-ray of Part 1 already and the standards of 2 and 3 and own the boxset but, I will gladly purchase this Blu-ray boxset of all 8 films. I love this series immensely.

They need to be uncut and reasonably priced for me to fork it out again for 8 movies I already purchased.

Stand-alone releases as well? I'm not too keen on owning most of the films, especially part V and VII, but I'd fork up some cash for FINAL CHAPTER. As for part III, I'm still waiting for some sort of workable 3D process for home theaters, be it a 3D capable display or blu-ray player. The anaglyph process ain't cuttin' it for me.

I own two Blu Ray players, but I still won't buy them unless they're uncut. Paramount has already manipulated me into buying multiple versions of these movies. This had better be a good release. Part 6, 7, and 8 REALLY need to be released uncut.

Nice, cant wait.

I already bought the original on blu-ray. I will only purchase stand-alone releases of 2, 3 (only if 3D), and 4. No way in hell I'm buying the entire boxset.
