While Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard have already dubbed their high-concept horror film The Cabin in the Woods as "the horror movie to end all horror movies," they've got plenty of more hype where that came from. While they're already playing games with us (by spreading BS information), Whedon is continuing the wildfire of anticipation.
“Ultimately it’s my and Drew’s take on the classic horror movie,” Whedon tells If Magazine. “Which means it’s a classic horror movie, but also means we have something specific to say about it and a different way of saying it than we’ve seen before. I think afterwards people will love it so much there will be no more need for movies. They will want to watch this movie over and over again.”
Personally, I think they need to simmer down a bit because ultimately they're going to over hype the film.
Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford have officially been cast, while rumors hit B-D and the Ny Times that Jena Malone was already cast (Whedon knocked down the story).
Much like Cloverfield, which Goddard scripted, the Cabin story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope.
I agree with the overhype statement.
"I think afterwards people will love it so much there will be no more need for movies. They will want to watch this movie over and over again.” Hhhhmmmmmm
He's got alot of balls to say the shit that he does." You will love this movie so much, there will be no more need for movies, but watch this over and over again ". WTF ?? He better back it up or he will be a laughing stock.
Hopefully this guy didn't just dig his own grave by saying that. People are VERY picky when it comes to horror movies. At least I know I am. Good luck dude!
You all think he's serious?

1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.
It's easy to misinterpret Joss. He has a strange, sarcastic sense of humor, and I have rarely heard an interview from him in which he was completely serious.
He has a very self-deprecating sense of humor, I think this is an example of it.
I wasn't a fan of Buffy/ Angel, but I'm definitely excited about a horror movie from the guy behind Firefly/ Serenity. Hopefully is is a true horror and not some cheesy Buffy-esque garbage.
Also, say that "the classic horror movie" is kids stranded in the woods rubs me the wrong way . . . there were horror movies before those were in vogue . . .
This will get butts in the seats when it comes time, even if it doesn't live up to the hype... the numbers will show success. However, I loved Cloverfield!
could be worse, it could be a remake, although I personally dont mind remakes, I know how many folks on here hate them, so at least it's something moderately original, I am stoked though.
Not sure what to think about the statement, Im glad its a new concept and not another remake but saing its the movie to end all movies, Never gonna happen!!! look how great the exorcist, halloween, starwars all are, do we watch other movies? YES!!!
