Anchor Bay Entertainment, the undisputed leader in cult and classic horror home entertainment, celebrates 20 years (and counting) of Hellraiser with the all-new Hellraiser LE Box Set, coming to DVD on April 21, 2009. Beyond the break you can check out the full details, along with a look at the box and Blu-ray release of Clive Barker's film that raised hell.
This collectible boxed set is contained in commemorative packaging that resembles the Lament Configuration, the infamous box from which the horrors of Hellraiser emerge, and contains both 20th-anniversary DVD special editions of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II, as well as the brand-new Blu-ray version of the original Hellraiser, boasting a specially reflective foil slipsheet. In addition, the Blu-ray version of Hellraiser will also be made available as a stand-alone title (pre-book March 19; SRP $29.97).
The horrors of Hellraiser are back – looking and sounder better than ever, and each one featuring a savage selection of special features including audio commentaries with cast and crew, retrospective interviews and vintage featurettes, trailers and teasers, and a shocking assortment of other enticements for the Hellraiser faithful. When Doug Bradley’s Pinhead said: “We have such things to show you” – he wasn’t kidding, and neither is Anchor Bay!
From the limitless imagination of Clive Barker came an enduring vision of the horrors of Hell. Hellraiser set a shocking new standard for cinematic horror that few others have dared approach, much less equaled. In the annals of horror, few franchises have enjoyed the sustained success and the fervent fan base of the Hellraisers. To date, there have been eight feature films – with a remake scheduled for release later this year.
And what better, bloodier way to commemorate two decades of demonic dementia than with the all-new Hellraiser LE Box Set?
This would be cool if it had all the Hellraiser films in one box...but Horrorlover is right about rights and ownership. Sucks that money and rights have precedent over fans. If you like Phantasm check out the sphere set. Unfortunately only released in Europe I believe.
Okay, the box itself is worth the price of admission. I want one!!
