IFC Films has announced a May 29th limited release for the Canadian horror pic Pontypool (review; trailer), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this summer. A day-and-date VOD release is highly probable. In the film a small-town radio station discovers that recent madness in the local population may be caused by a virus transmitted through speech. Um. Well, I'm not too sure what the movie 'Dead air' is about, but I am almost 100% certain that it's about a radio show and during said show a zombie/ some kind of outbreak occurs. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that these two movies are VERY similar, no?
Pontypool is based on a book called "Pontypool Changes Everything" which was published in 1998. If anything is a "knockoff" here, it's Dead Air.
