Beyond the break you can now watch the first trailer for Andrew van den Houten's Offspring, the latest Jack Ketchum adaptation. Survivors of a feral flesh-eating clan are chowing their way through the locals. Amy Halbard and Claire Carey strive to survive their abduction by the cannibals and save their children. A subplot involving Claire's despicable husband, Steven, gives an opportunity to cleverly compare predatory civilized folk to the appetite-driven primitives.
I love good films with no recognizable faces... characters take over. Enough Travolta for gods sake! This looks like a dead-on adaptation, as was The Girl Next Door. MEGA PSYCHED to cover this one.
im looking forward to this movie but the footage ive seen so far looks like shit. also i dont know why they'd skip over offseason, apart from coming first its aa much better book anyway
Legal problems prevented Off Season from being filmed. Stop whining; this will deliver the goods from both books. Jack Ketchum is one of our great writers.
I haven't read offspring yet, only off season but the other adaptations of Ketchums work that I have seen (The Girl Next Door and Red) have been done very well.
I've read all of Ketchum's books. Girl next door and the Lost were okay movies compared to the books, but the production was shite. However, considering that they are very indy productions, they're not so bad. This may be fun, cause the book gets kinda crazy; as all ketchum books do, but I wouldn't lose sleep waiting on this one.
LOL...so why do these feral people look like cavemen!?! Seriously, they would be intelligent enough to wear the clothing of their victims instead of running around in loin cloths! Oh well...it will be worth a rental.
It's one of my fave books, so I'm pretty disappointed at how cheap and digital this looks. Straight to dvd low budget crapfest by the looks of it. And the kids look like corny Tarzan or cavemen, not like the book. Nice cameo by Ketchum though.
They might look like cavemen because they uh, live in a cave. They dont wear clothes because they grew up in the wild. All of these Ketchum adaptations have gone direct to DVD basically because (A) Hollywood doesnt know a good movie when its looking them in the face (B) it doesnt star John Travolta or Tom Cruise and (C) theyre being done by excellent indie studios that are up and coming in the industry right now. Somebody has the rights to Off Season and has done NOTHING with it. Im confident OFFSPRING will incorporate anything important from the first book for clarity purposes...
