In California, American journalist Sara Brown has been kidnapped by religious extremists. Her colleague and fellow anchor Steve Mcreedy, follows the coverage from an LA news studio. A terrorist cell sits camped in a sweaty, unknown nearbly locale, waving a pistol at her cameraman, readying themselves for Sara’s beheading. With cameras aimed and knives sharpened, they commence. But something unforeseen goes terribly, terribly wrong...
These are the explosive elements of an award winning short film that made rounds within the horror festival circuit circa 2006. Director Kevin Shulman brought his offensive vision to war sensitive New York City and hammered the audience with a no holds barred, psychological battering that offended a few and earned gritty respect from the remaining filmgoers looking for a horror film they wouldn’t soon forget.
That short was EYES OF SAMIR, and you can watch the brutal, uncut version right now exclusively over at BDTV. The exciting news here is that Eyes of Samir has been expanded into a full length feature script currently under the name of SARA’S CELL – and some well known names are already beginning to attach themselves. The first of which is horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman, Night of the Living Dead), who also plays Sara’s co-anchor in the short.
“SARA'S CELL is the brain child of myself and my brother Nathan Shulman who returned home from Iraq and helped me write it, bringing to it his expertise on terrorism and the darkest elements of our occupation in IRAQ,” says writer/director Kevin. “The film is a throwback to serious psychological horror and gore films of the past – the sort you might otherwise expect from Freidkin or Carpenter. None of this torture porn crap or cheap buck artist video schlock. I care about this genre more than any other and im here to grow and stay in it.”
If you’re still keeping an eye out for fresh, original material that packs a punch, keep an eye on this one. Bloody Disgusting will have exclusive coverage, and will bring you further developments on this much anticipated project as it develops.
Just watched Samir, it starts off ok and the cinematography is top notch, but in the end its just plain retarded. I like how the director said he doesnt want to make another torture porn film, thats exactly what this is. Even better (Not) are his rap videos http://www.axiom-8.com/
This guy is a joke. Also by the time this movie comes out who is gonna wanna see a terrerist horror film, Devin over at chud had an interesting article a month or so ago about how the current political climate is going to change drastically and that people are gonna wanna see different types of movies. Films like SAW and Hostel arent gonna do nearly as well in a time of Hope and once the war is over.
Spineshank, when this movie comes out, you're more than welcome to sit at home and jerk your dick while eating a bag of doritos and watching will n grace reruns. Your criticism is nothing that i would take into consideration as to whether or not to watch this film. I found it to be exactly what it is, an entirely new twist to what the horror genre desperately needs. instead of running at the mouth, go make a film for the rest of us to speak our minds over would you?
pkersey, you're right. haters are fans. i'm sure Mr. Shulman appreciates your support.

this is exactly why horror sucks now, bunch of 16 yer old girls who are easily scared, and think they are seeing something new when they really arent at all
do you pride yourself on being this ignorant, spineshank? Did you not say that you don't even work in film? Your doubt is about as great as your appreciation.
I'm not 16. I'm 25. Try reading a profile and learning before you speak. And never once did I say I was 'scared'. Enjoying a horror has nothing to do with how scared you do or don't get. It has to do with enjoying the body of work as a whole. Do this forum a favor and shut the fuck up.
