Thanks God for the international websites who score the "cool" images that the MPAA never allows to be released here in the States. Beyond the break you can check out three brand new images from Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema's Friday the 13th (trailer). Two of the hi-res pics feature Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears) in action, while the third displays one of his unlucky victims. The story follows a group of young adults that find themselves going toe-to-toe with the infamous Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears) at a cabin near Camp Crystal Lake. Directed by Marcus Nispel, the film hits theaters Friday, February 13, 2009.
It seems rather ironic that in Rob Zombie's Halloween, Michael Myers went from normal-sized guy to pro wrestler, but in Marcus Nispel's Friday the 13th, Jason Voorhees has diminished considerably from his Kane Hodder days. I wonder what'll happen to Freddy Krueger? My money's on an overweight, Latin American midget!

The first pic is funny. I go, "Why is Jason wielding a sword?!". That would be hilarious to see Jason bust out with a medieval sword and chop heads off!!
I think Jasons size is perfect. He looks like a real person, not a WWF wrestler. The most criminally insane murders in real life are for the most part, average in stature. That would be my #1 complaint about RZ's Michael. He looked great but was just way too big like he could play center in the NBA.

I met Derek Mears in person and trust me, he is not a small dude. He isn't incredibly huge as far as width goes, but he is a tall, strong, bald man... haha.
I think the second pic is great, but at the same time I don't like it. It's badass because it shows his size, but it's not because what the pic implies. He's holding the girl with his hand over her mouth. That implies he's kidnapping her or about to tie her up. I can't recall a secene in a F13 movie where Jason grabbed a girl and fled with her. He hacks everyone up, then gets moving. If there's anything about this movie I don't like, it's the idea of making him less savage. Jason didn't keep prisoners.
Honestly, I love all those images. Even the idea that he's abducting the one girl seems right to me. Maybe he's dragging her off to keep the others in the dark? Maybe he just wants to save her for later. Either way, I'm excited for this. and I hate the new version of Jason alot less than I had though.
People say that the new Jason looks smaller than Kane??? Derek Mears stand 6'5" where Kane is 6'3". Therefore the new Jason isn't small at all. And if you've seen pictures of what Derek Mears looks like outside of the make up you'll see that he's buff too. Jason looks awesome. The new look has grown on me and I love that he has a holster for his machete.
wow, i do agree he looks like he has a eating disorder,but Im still hyped to see Jason just destroy people. I cant wait!! This looks like its going to be a pretty good movie.
Jason has an eating disorder? Smaller? Really? Granted, I loved Kane Hodder, but does anyone remember part 2 where Jason made his debut? He was like 5'7". Derek Mears is no small man and looks terrifying. I would love to see the haters in the same position as the first 2 stills and talk that bullshit. In no way shape or form is this movie "unnecessary". This movie will rock and I hope it makes certain "fans" eat shit.
This movie may be "unnecessary" but so are alot things i like and want including atleast half the sequels to this and most other sequels and remakes are "unnecessary" and i still love some of them. i don't know if you've noticed but most movies are made for entertainment purposes and not out of necessity.
The only thing that was unnecessary was the fact that they kept going after "The New Blood" with the craptacular parts 8, 9, and 10. Friday the 13th movies don't need over explanation of a motive or backstory EVERY SINGLE SEQUEL. You ruin shit that way. Do people need an explanation as to how James Bond can continue doing the same shit for 22 movies? No. I'm glad this reboot of the series happened. It looks like a straight up slasher film with no nonsense, no hellbabies, no heart eating, no robots and spaceships, and finally no Jason turning into a kid in the sewer after being flushed with toxic waste. Seriously. This is the best thing that could have happened. If you treat this as a sequel (the way people should have treated the TCM remake)then you shouldn't have any problems.
We lost a great actor yesterday. Ricardo Montalban passed away at his home. He was 88 years old. To sci-fi fans he will always be remembered as Captain Kirk's nemesis in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. RIP Mr.Montalban!!!! You'll not be forgotten!!!!! From a true fan!!!!

A skinny jason best refelxs on his lifestyle, smart guy. if your living in the woods eating small animals, berries ect.. your not going to be fat. so i think this jason is perfect
The girl in picture 2 and picture 3 are not the same. They are wearing diffrent types of shirts. I am going to go out on a limb here with a prediction, any comments would be appreciated. If you look carefully at picture 2, the woman is screaming her butt off, but if you look to the left you can tell she is looking at what appears to be Jason. If you look carefully at Jason, he does not seem to be wearing a hockey mask, or the hood. Could it be, that this is were Jason's face is revealed? Maybe she fights Jason, and removes his hood? My other prediction comes from the trailers where the girl is swimming in the lake and she see's what we believe to be Jason...My guess is that dude standing in the woods will be the funny guy, who brings the hockey mask to the party....the shelby of the group. Time will tell....but I must say I love these pictures.
!!!YAWN!!! ... What would make this somewhat interesting would the possibility that when the mask is removed, we get see the face of DAVID LEE ROTH. I can see from the one picture that is posted, they have the amount and hair color. ... I shall bring both my blanky and pillow with me for the tragedy so i can catch up on my lost ZZZZZ's while i fall victim to yet another LAZYWOOD remake hack job. One truely walks a fine line when saying someone or something is back. I do honestly love the whole Friday The 13th franchise and hold it very dear as i have seen all of them theatrically during the original releases ( yes, even Jason In Space). But i as a horror fan feel cheated and disrespected by the movie industry as being looked upon as a Lemming as deserving nothing more than a half assed atempt to a quick buck to a remake. Lets be honest, there is nothing to awful hard about this story ... Masked killer kills teenagers at a camp wearing a hockey mask. SEQUEAL ... NEW KIDS. The series should have ended after the 4th film. But like everything in life, if it makes money ... let the bodies pile up. Dont you think you might deserve something fresh and original like TRICK R' TREAT that has been pushed back numerous times for yet another Hollywood turn of the screw for a quick buck remake, most of which are nothing more than 15 minutes of something new and more blood and boobs. people bitch because they are pissed and rightfully so. I love Jason to watch the old films often, but i also know that space was the final frontier and the Leprechaun was also there.
Hmm, I also like these pictures, but Jason looks very thin. It's definitely not the so terrifying. The trenchcoat also sucks :-(
