Fincher Touches on Se7en Sequel 'Ei8ht'

What about a sequel to SE7EN, David Fincher? "I would be less interested in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes," the director confided to an inquisitive fan at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's "Curious Case of Benjamin Button" talkback. "I keep trying to get out from under my own shadow," he adds later in the chat. "I don't want to do the same shit over and over." Not even for, say, EI8HT." While Fincher says he doesn't want to be involved in a sequel to the Brad Pitt horror-thriller, it doesn't mean a studio won't go forth with one without him.

I wouldn't have any hope for it WITH Fincher directing, and without him, I have about as much interest in this as I have with the sequel to High School Musical 3. I'm sick of pointless sequels. It's not like Se7en is untouched material or anything. It's been ripped-off so many times, returning to the subject would be redundant and pointless.

Not to mention "Ei8ht" has to be the stupidest-looking title in movie history.

Fincher is hilarious.

I could see a profitable Ei8ht if they gave it to an up and coming director and kept the budget minimal. Otherwise... you hear it? (whistle of bomb coming.............)BOOOOOOOMB!!!!!!

What would be the point? The whole catch to the film was the seven deadly sins. What, did they find an additional one?

Without Fincher, this would probably suck. His directing style on SEVEN made it one of the top suspense movies ever. Where would you take a sequel without Freeman, Pitt and Spacey ? Kevin Spacey played one of my favorite serial killers in recent memory. He was so good in that.

Good. It's nice to see some directors in this business put there foot down and not cash out on a shittier sequel or prequel.

Wow. Move over CHUD, Bloody-Disgusting is in town to offer up the most non-news ever.

Not all movies require a sequel...Se7en is one of em'. Glad to see Fincher will leave it alone.

There's only one reason a sequel for Se7en would ever be made: to cash in on the success of movies like Saw. The thought disgusts me... in a bad way.

This is a joke right? Look if there is one film that should not have a sequel its Se7en. It stands alone and it was perfect. please don't do to this like they did to the Exorcist. That film was perfect to, and it didn't need any sequel but look it got 2 sequels and 2 preqels and they all sucked but the first one and it was the same for Jaws they should have left the first alone. I just really hope they throw this idea out the window and burn it.

No. Se7en is perfect the way it is, and it doesn't need a sequel or a prequel showing how John Doe came to be like he became. That would just plain suck.

Wait, was that actual news? Your next news story should be about how john carpentar talks about him directing the next halloween movie instead of rob zombie and in the story he could just say "I dont want to direct it" and youd have something just as post worthy. You should retire mr disgusting. Your news isnt worth shit, you been a impersonal idiot both times I ran into you in indiana and your laughable at debating on tv. Let others run the site for you instead. Except spooky dan, that ass kisser is just a highschooler trying to be different yet the same in order to be popullar.

I Have signed on to direct Ei8ght. I am also handling the screenplay, which will focus on the 8 deadly sings of the Carpathian Goat people of Guatamala. Most involve sodomy and myself(also starring) doing a Kevin Spacey impression during our big musical finale.

Just because of movie is successful doesn't mean it automatically needs a sequel, Basic Instinct 2 anyone! Leave this alone . A follow up to Se7en = one very bad idead.

A total fuck up is what a sequel would be. SEVEN was great. I can't see how anyone would be able to write anything as good as that. Dumb asses!!

But Se7en already has a sequel. It's called Saw... and there are actually 5 (going on 6) of them.

Hey rusted31 kudos on the Basic Instinct 2 line. That is the perfect exsample a movie that didn't need a sequel. that was a good call man.

You're lucky that every horror news site kind of sucks. I started reading BD quite a while ago because Dread Central had really gone downhill, but are you just tying to fill bandwidth here or what? Jesus Fucking Christ.

Maybe they'll just name Saw 8 Saw Ei8ht and kill two dead, flogged horses with one club.

I believe this sequel would be good, as long as the vapid Brad 'Benjamin Butthole' Pitt isn't in it. I hope Morgan Freeman passes on the sequel as well. I hope other actors be in this sequel if it gets made.
