Are you guys ready? We just got our grubby little hands on the promo trailer for George A. Romero's... of the Dead, which currently wrapped filming in Toronto, Canada. What do you guys think? Talk about it below. Starring Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Devon Bostick, Richard Fitzpatrick, Stefano Colacitti and Athena Karkanis, the film was written and directed by Romero. You can check out the new synopsis beyond the break.
Sorry guys, we were served a cease and desist today and had to remove the video. We'll post the trailer again as soon as it's released.
On a small island off North America's coast, the dead rise to menace the living. Yet...the islanders can't bring themselves to exterminate their loved ones, despite the growing danger from those the once held dear. A rebel among them hunts down all the zombies he can find, only to be banished from the island for assassinating his neighbors and friends. On the mainland, bent on revenge, he encounters a small band of survivors in search of an oasis on which to build a new life. Barely surviving an attack from a mass of ravenous flesh-eaters. They commandeer a zombie-infested ferry and sail to the island. There, to their horror, they discover that the locals have chained the dead inside their homes, pretending to live 'normal' lives...with bloody consequences. What ensues is a desperate struggle for survival and the answer to a question never posed in Romero's Dead films: Can the living ever live in peace with the dead?
I have nothing but respect for Romero, and will defend him to the last, but it's getting hard to do with each movie looking cheaper than the last...Maybe it needs some more spit and polish, but this looks like "Flesh For The Beast" quality.
looks interesting, i like the plot. i love all romero's films, zombie and non-zombie films, and if he's doing a new film, im excited, he's the best on the genre
I love the look and feel of this one than i did of Diary - maybe because of the fp camera Diary had. But this one feels more like his roots - his low budget bare nothing Night of the Living Dead roots. Can't wait.
Lets hope Romero steps his game up a little on this one. I for one, am happy about a lower budget dead movie, the last thing we need is another "Land". Just hope Georges script is stronger than Diary. But hell, the man is 112 years and i'll gladly pay to see this. Cant wait.

OK we all know he's the master of zombie movies but he is a talented director period. It's time to do something different maybe still in this genre but not another tired zombie movie. I think he's resting on his laurels.
I enjoyed both Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead on the big screen, and still consider both great movies. Hopefully this one will have a wider release than Diary.
Land and Diary were really bad. I get the feeling that Romero has found himself irrelevant in modern horror and feels pressure to be "the guy who has social commentary in his zombie movies" so he ends up grasping at straws. That being said, Night and Day are some of my favorite horror movies, so I secretly keep rooting for him anyway.
I loved Land because it simply showed no matter what happens sooner or later death(or zombies in this case) wins but Diary I could have done without but was a good story. I wish it had more to do with the other movies other then being during the same night as night of the living dead.
I'm hoping Romero can give us some great movies to show he is the zombie king before he passes
Land was a good 9/11 commenatry:
"We were the ones who caused this to happen with our stupidity thinking we had control but when it crumbles the rich will abandoned the poor"
The plot sounds awesome.. the movie looks HORRIBLE...
I'm sorry but I'm not excited to see nothing after wasting money on Diary of the Dead.
George Romero's directing is now DEAD.
I have my hopes up for this one. Diary pretty much sucked so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Love Romero, so I hope he's got a few more great films left.
I agree. The plot does sound interesting, but the trailer looked cheap. Lots of respect for Romero and all he has contributed to horror. I thought DIARY was kind of boring and LAND was decent, not great. Maybe this will be better than the trailer suggests. I'll see it because it's Romero. I thought the remake of DAWN was really good.
I'll see this because I like all of Romero's previous zombie films, but this really doesn't look terribly interesting. It looks like a lot of other zombie movies from the last few years. Hopefully after this he'll do something completely different.
