Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller is back again with a new post over at his official webpage where he talks a bit about THE UNBORN being rated PG-13 and how he tried to make a film scary without using buckets of blood. In addition, he has made it known that your feedback for their remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is actually helping them with the film. So head on over to the blog post and leave some feedback, now is the time to let your voice be heard! THE UNBORN hits theaters everywhere this Friday from Rogue Pictures.

We all hope so . There has been heaps of discussion and suggestions on the boards for what would make a great remake.

I gave my suggestions already, but I need to say it again. No reboot, remake, whatever you want to call it. Robert Englund is Freddy. Anyone can play in a mask with a knife and walk slow or possessed, but nobody can take Englund's spot! A prequel with Englund, or a good old fashion sequel to Freddys dead, but scary Freddy, not funny Freddy! We'll see though.

Let me say once more that I think the only way this will work is if Freddy doesn't speak at all. Low, guttural grunts due to fire damage of the vocal cords. This would make it a true reboot.

I've given suggestions to and if they make this a prequel and give a Krueger a back story i'll scream. Why does every horror franchise now have to have a back story ? we all know how Freddy came to be a dream killer and we don't need it explained. Look at what backstories did to the Halloween remake and TCM - The Beginning. Totally ruined both horror icons

Mikey Myers

I don't think TCM - The Beginning ruined anything because it didn't really explain a thing.

I don't think that a back story is really needed either, but I am about 90% sure they will give at least some backstory just to show it even though we all know how Freddy came to be. In my opinion (and everyone has one) I don't think backstories ruin horror movies/icons. Halloween wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either but it was better than what we were probally going to get after Resurrection, and w/ TCM: The Beginning I liked that film I thought it was pretty good. But again just my opinion. I do hope that they cast Robert Englund as Freddy though if they don't I wont see it.

I dont care if they remake every horror movie ever. I simply just DONT WATCH THEM,so I am not disapointed,or upset or whatever.

TCM - The Beginning ruined the character of Leatherface. In the original and first remake he was just a silent brutal killer, no rhyme , no reason. In The Beginning they reduced him to a retard named Tommy who was picked on at school and thats why he became a killer. Pathetic.

First, I would prefer a little (not alot) of backstory to Freddy, simply because there has not been any in all the Elm Street movies. It's spoke about, but never got a glimpse of what Freddy was like before he was burned up. I would find that more interesting than just remaking the original. That was a reason in my opinion that needed to be done with Halloween. We didn't need to get a direct remake of Carpenter's masterpiece, that would be pointless. If it's being remade, for better or worse, take it in a new unexplored direction. We already have seen and know how the originals turned out. And second, no funny Freddy. Make him dark, evil and scary as hell.

Mikey Myers
6:06am, January 6, 2009

rustedhead31, it's far from pathetic and pretty acceptable IMO. while not necessary to explain, I think it was safe to draw the conclusion he was somewhat retarded even from the original film. but it's also safe to assume those weren't the only two reasons he killed, especially after seeing the dudes fucked up family. While it was implied Leatherface was retarded in the other films, Michael was turned into a completely different kind of beast which was a whole hell of a lot disheartening than Leatherface, thats for sure.

Mikey Myers, all i'm saying is that back story's weaken these characters. They are much more frightening when there is no reason to their madness. When all that is taken away from the audience there is no mystery to why these characters commit the acts they do. Some things are better left unexplained. Take Myers for example, he was much more of threat, scary figure when we didn't know why he was stalking his victims in the original and what made him tick. A lot more intense than some poor kid who turns into a killer cause he has a slut mother and sister , a crippled step dad and gets tormented at school. Boo fucking hoo!

robert englund as freddy noone else can put on the glove, hat, scare kids in there dreams, have scars/burns on there face like him or wear the red and black striped sweater.......no remake dont want some noname wanna be teeny bopper actors who cant act worth crap in it.........as for ideas have heather lankencamp as cameo back as nancy. i miss seeing her on screen! or have dylan grown up has a kid of his own or sometrhing and let hiim have nightmares.....wouldnt mind a sequel to a new nightmare or even better, have a sequel to dream child where we see jacob all grown up or a teenager or something. have one or a few of the "survivors back". (yes i know nancy died in the third one but heather appeared as her self in new nightmare). have scary freddy back not comical freddy....one two freddys coming for you.....three four better lock your door five six grab a cruscifix, seven eight gonna stay up late....nine ten never slee again!!!

I think the backstories are becoming so prominent because society has evolved in the past 30 years. Back then we did not talk about our tragedys and heartaches. Today, in the age of information, we question everything and always want to know more. Rusted31 I hear you and I feel you, I just think both sides are a different kind of scary. Slow and methodical was terrfying and so was the unknown back then. Now, it sems psychotic, enormous and fast is frightening. Either way scary is scary. It's the writing and directing that needs to be strong. I wish them the best with this project. Just please refrain from cheesy punchlines and quirky remarks! I want Freddy to be absolutely terrifying.

Robert Englund IS and always will be Freddy. No body can replace him or do the great job that Englund did. It is different with Jason and Myers. I don't want to see them remake this movie. It would suck!!!

rusted31, I'm in complete agreement with you. My only argument is that TCM- The Beginning is no way near as close to being as damaging as Halloween '07 was, haha.

Don't try to remake or rewrite the Nighmare history. I know its a remake but we don't need to watch the same story all over again. And most importantly leave the Nancy character alone, the role belongs to Heather Langenkamp and no one else. If you guys were smart you should forget the remake idea and just follow the Beautiful Dream story.

I agree 100% w/ rusted31. I came to see terror and have the bjesus scurred out of me. I don't want some freakin' sob story! As for this film, I'm not excited. However, I just hope it's done right. I don't know WHY it's being done. Oh snap! Maybe they can give us a backstory on that? That could be the prequel! "NOES: WHY?" BTW, TCM-The Beginning was abhorrent.*lol*

johnny it did lil bit pieces of it in freddys dead when amanda? (cant think of her nsme but been awhile since i seen it) had to go through/in fredddys head. we seen freddy being teased as a child in school by his classmates. he chopped/slaughtered a hamster. also when she went through another door it showed him as a teenager carving scars in hiim with a knife right before his dad was bout to give him the good ol whippen.......then showed him when he stabbed amandas mom without his makeup in teh garden. then showed him when he was found and the town put him in the boiler room and burned him alive. so they did do lil backstory on that.

I'm not really sure how I feel about seeing a remake...Some remakes can cap a whole franchise, whic is always a real shame. ANOES was doing well on the small scale anyways. Black Flame made some legitally scary and intelligent books starring Freddy, some of which were better than the movies. It'd be a shame if this movie turned out poorly. I know it's just a money sucking franchise, but Freddy meant a lot to me growing up. He was the anti-hero, even among slasher villains. I really don't want to see a prequel either. Platinum Dunes, if you're seeing this, MAKE A SEQUEL!! Freddy vs. Jason was a sequel, and it made a ridiculous amount of money. Go for the gold and continue it! If it's actually a good movie, it'll pay for itself.

The one and only Freddy Kruger is Robert England. I have said once and I'll say it again, if you replace Robert England has Freddy the movie will be DOA, dead on arrival, at the box office.

CGI FREDDY KRUEGER VOICED BY ROBERT ENGLUND! ENOUGH OF THE WHO CAN PLAY KRUEGER SUGGESTIONS. THERE IS ONLY ONE. ROBERT IS AN ASSHOLE IF HE DOESN'T REPRISE AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A FULL ON CGI CHARACTER. TWO FACE IN TDK SHOWED US THAT CGI CAN DO BURN DAMAGE REAL JUSTICE. LAST SUGGESTION GOONIE AGED KIDS. A FEW MID TEENAGERS 3 AT MOST AND THE REST ARE JUST KIDS AND THATS WHAT KRUEGER IS AFTER KIDS. CAUSE HE'S A CHILD KILLER. ROB ZOMBIE FUCKED UP HALLOWEEN BY REPRISING THE SISTER ROUTINE. DO NOT FUCK UP ELM STREET BY MAKING IT ABOUT TEENS. KMAN WAS ALL ABOUT THE KIDDIES. GOONIES MONSTER SQUAD AGES! NO HIGHER DONT HIRE OLDER KID TO PLAY YOUNGER ONES 3 AT MOST AT AGE 15 AND THE REST BETWEEN 11-13 AND ONE OR TWO REAL YOUNG KIDS LIKE 6-8 THEY WOULD BE THE "TWERPY, TAG ALONG, WHY WONT YOU LET ME PLAY WITH YOU GUYS" LITTLE SISTER OR BROTHER TYPE!!!!! CGI FREDDY- ROBERT ENGLUND DOES VOICE- AND HIS VICTIMS ARE KIDS!!! GOT IT I HOPE SO.

ROBERT SHOULD REPRISE- IF HE DOES- THE REMAKE SAVES THE NEXT 20 YEARS OF THE CHARACTER IN ROBERTS SHOES. IF HE BACKS OUT HE DOESN'T GET A CHANCE TO COME BACK AS FREDDY- DON'T SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT ROB! WE LOVE YOU COME BACK ONCE MORE- THEY CAN UP THE BUDGET TO DO AN ALL CGI VERSION OF BURNT KRUEGER AND YOU CAN PLAY THE CREEPY OLD GUY BEFORE HIS SKINS BURNED OFF. PLEASE DUNES STOP PLAYING GAMES SAY ROBERTS A LOCK DUMP A SHITLOAD OF MONEY ON HIS LAWN. DON'T FUCK US OVER ON FREDDY. YOU WILL PAY FOR IT. AND THAT DOESN'T MAKE US HATERS FOR BEING UPSET ABOUT THE REMAKE. WE WONT CHANGE THAT TUNE UNTIL WE HEAR THE WORDS ROBERT ENGLUND TO PLAY FRED CHARLES FUCKING KRUEGER! OK! PLEASE DON'T FUCK US! A WRITER TO APPROACH- JONATHAN NOLAN BROTHER OF CHRIS "THE DARK KNIGHTS" NOLAN. STEPHEN KING WOULD BE AN OUT THERE CHOICE. MOVE FREDDY TO MAINE, BUT THE PROBLEM IS WOULD KING DO IT. HELL HIRE STEPHEN KING TO WRITE THE TREATMENT THE PLOT OUTLINE- I BET HE COULD DO SOMETHING GOOD AND HE MIGHT EVEN THINK IT COULD BE FUN. NO ONE GIVES KING A CHANCE ANYMORE.

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,476498,00.html Heres a "weblink" "Why Stephen King wants to see a Freddy vs Jason movie" Stephen King was approached to write and direct A Nightmare On elm Street 5- probably didn't bite because of it being part 5. The slates clean now! It wouldn't hurt to ask. When he's in a great sandbox he can make one hell of a castle.

i think a prequel to Elm Street will be better than anything else, but i do agree with mike that Robert Englund was and will be the best Freddy ever. I do hope they cast someone who can fill his shoes however!

well the egg head is insisting on making this i think they should do a bit of both have englund playing krueger in the early years but if they insist on replacing him (its gona suck) they shouldnt show his face and have englund doing the voice over!!

Well, since this, like all the other remakes, has to be made because people have become mindless drones who can't accept anything not already established as a "brand" that their friends now about . . at least don't make it so . . PlatinumDunes-ish. No GD grainy brownish filters and rejected SAW 2 sets. Make 1428 Elm Street a REAL SUBURBAN HOUSE and not a fvcking Gothic Mansion . . Make Freddy FREDDY, as we love him, and not some Leatherface clone. Oh, and a "Love Hurts" montage couldn't hurt. (sarcasm) I long for a time when A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET could come out as an original film, because somebody had a GD idea of their own and saw it through. But if it has to be, it has to be.

I've gave my sequel (not remake) idea. Bring back Alice Johnson and Jacob (they're the only surviving characters!!)

The energy that Englund brought to the character can never be duplicated. He will ALWAYS be Fred Krueger. Why even try with anyone else? Make a new sequel if you must...Elm Street doesn't need to be "re-imagined".

Blu11
10:45pm, January 13, 2009

A reboot or prequel is worthy but make it disturbing like the original TCM, as creepy as the original Halloween and as scary as The Exorcist. I agree that Robert Englund should reprise the role of Freddy, CGI or not. Its a must to redeem and maintain the credibility of all the nightmare films. But yes, Freddy should not be cracking jokes and be all business. Make his blades longer and his voice unbearable to hear in a scary sense. If I were Englund I would use his original take on Freddy(first film) minus the jokes and watch some pretty psychotic/twisted/disturbing films for new inspiration.

To be honest every single one of the Elm Street film's have been with adult's. That's pretty cool but I have been a screenwriter, songwriter, and rapper already for seven year's and I have put up some screen play on this film but what I would think would be the best Brandley Fuller Is to mix it up alittle this generation isn't just adult's now it's pre-teen's and pre-adult's I think Freddy should be chasing teen's around the ages of 15-18 in the movie instead of adult's. Just like you remade Friday The 13th a little different you should do the same for Elm Street if the project is accepted, and in production such as script's already. This is my version of This Movie. Genre Fantasy / Horror / Thriller / Mystery Taglines • Some Dream's Become Reality • Death Is Just One Sleep Away... • One, Two, Freddy's Coming For You... Plot outline A re-imagining nightmare is back Freddy Krueger is killing teenager's as if they were going extinct, the serial killer is haughting seven teenager's four girl's, and three boy's in there dream's just when you think the nightmare is over he come's back for one last night to end there dream in reality. but that's the problem. we love rob/freddy. we've grown attached to him. we're not supposed to like him, he's a child killer. they're nothing worse than that. we've seemed to have forgotten that. he's not scary anymore. we need someone to portray the character as the monster that he is. i want to audition for the role of freddy and then i'll show you what scary is!

I have wanted to see a prequel for "nightmare" for 20 years. I do think if a remake is made that it should be done with either Robert Englund or Ben Foster as Freddy. I prefer Englund. I also think that freddy should be played as creepy as possible. Pedophile creepy, not clown creepy. He is a child killer, after all.
