An Early Look at the New Michael Myers Mask!
Saturday, January 3, 2009

Holy crap are they moving fast or what? This morning Rob Zombie posted a sneak peak at the brand new mask for Michael Myers, which will be worn once again by Tyler Mane. "FX master Wayne Toth is back to work creating the latest and greatest version of Michael Myers for H2, Zombie writes. "Here is an exclusive sneak peek at some early pics of the mask in it's clay sculpt form. If you thought Michael was f*cked before, you ain't seen nothing yet! He is bigger, meaner and more psycho than Dr. Loomis ever thought possible." H2 (Halloween II) hits theaters August 28th, 2009 from Dimension Films.

If you look at the left side, there seems to be a piece missing. Could the bullet have grazed his head and torn part of the mask? Oh whatever, I'll have to wait to find out. I have to say I'm beginning to look forward to this?

The bullet must have hit the side of his head real deep. But it's Michael Myers. He's a big boy. :)

i agree w/ PsychoSlasher, that this is DEFINITELY looking VERY rushed. i hope that's not going to show in the final product. i'm looking forward to this mainly because it's going to be an ORIGINAL Halloween movie (pretty much). i think this (again, if not so rushed that it's been compromised) could be a GREAT movie!

RZ will have to explain how Michael lived. I'm guessing the bullet fired was a graze or maybe that end portion of the film will be a dream sequence and Laurie will wake up still in the Myer's basement or in the hospital. I'm not sure why they would need a new mask ? Last one was great.

I am so excited about this movie. I can't wait. Mane is so good at being Myers. I can't wait to see more updates and even more when the trailer comes out!!

Rush job indeed. Hate to pile on, but I tend to agree that Zombie's first attempt was a cheesy disaster that almost broke the unintentional comedy scale for future use. I am curious to this though, as djblack said, it would have to be an original story

Fridaythe13th
3:49pm, January 3, 2009

I don't think it is being rushed at all. They were easily already working on this way before we ever found out. Zombie basically said screw T-Rex and began writing the H2 script early.

4:13pm, January 3, 2009

Sigh...yet again. I hate this reboot. The original still stands up and is superior in every single way imaginable, right down to the mask. The masks in parts I & II didn't need to be all messed up to make Michael menacing. The blank expression on them represented the emotionless killer that was The Shape. All Zombie did was translate his trailer trash Devil's Rejects script, made the tall deformed one Michael, and stuck him in Haddonfield. I know if you asked Carpenter if he likes the new look and such he'll be all PC because Hollywood is incestuous, but every fan of the genre knows it's biting him because he made a classic that didn't need the reboot. If the Akkad family really needed to make more money off Halloween, do the retouches and re release Part I so people can see what a real horror movie is and witness the birth of the slasher genre.

An Experiment In Terror
5:13pm, January 3, 2009

I don't think they mean the mask in particular, the whole project has gotten the "rushed" tag. And no one said they knew anything for sure, it was a matter of opinion. Calm down, Christ. Completely agreed with Myers54, the original was something that didn't need to be touched and Zombie's film somehow already seems dated.

5:23pm, January 3, 2009

whats wrong with everyone there is a big problem with anyone wanting to remake a film , yeh ok some films cannot be touched i.e hell raiser / american werewolf / the howling . but when you look at the texas remakes fuck they rock forget all of you that say there big fans , so am i and from an early age but when an artist takes something and makes it on a par with the O.G. then who gives a fuck and does the whole world not understand it's Rob Zombie were talking about .The mask is fine people get a grip and at the end of the day when Rob does a job he does it better than anyone else , I live and die a real die hard fan of halloween so give it up the mask rocks and the film will KILL

6:03pm, January 3, 2009

Rushed=Another Shitty Halloween.Rob Zombie took everything that made Michael Myers scary, and did away with it. He thinks that if you make him 6'10, it makes him more menacing....Why do people need everything explained in horror movies today? Why he wears his mask, his whole complete backstory, why he does this or that, how about leaving a little to the imagination? The ending to Halloween was way too long.

the picture looks pritty cool. There is definitely a big piece of the mask missing on the left side. The bullet just missed its mark. But still made a pritty severe impact on the left side of the face. Adleast this looks alot better then halloween resurrection were it wasn't michael that got beheaded. I'm glad were going to have a meaner michael this time around. Probably going to update the music a little bit. Still have the halloween them in there somewhere. Maybe there bring back the orange titles. Anyway here comes michael again even meaner . Let the bloodshed begin:)

8:55pm, January 3, 2009

.....and let's not forget that this project has been in the works longer than any of us were aware of, so don't think this was all crafted yesterday. I bet all the times Rob said he hasn't even begun working on a script for this movie was his way of keeping hush hush about it until the studio deemed it ok to officially announce to the public that this film was getting the go-ahead.

They needn't explain how he survived the bullet, because anyone with even a shred of self-respect would/should have forgotten the entire misfire of the first redux. Hell, I'm only aware he took a bullet in the first film because the fanboys are analyzing it to death. More Rob Zombie trailer park nonsense that won't get a single dime from my pocket. Alright people and halloween fans, the first halloween is the best, everybody should know that, and it always will be, the remake didnt even have the famous closet scene where laurie hides in and michael comes through, Rob Zombie should stick to singing, but i love all the halloween movies, but i really hate halloween 3, that had nothing to do with michael, i hope they remake that shitty movie, no sequal or remake can surpass the original, whats next a remake of jaws, and that is my favorite horror movie, or a remake of the exorcist, come on hollywood cant you come up with new ideas, the first saw was good, but the rest sukk ass, are they going to remake that to dumbasses

Ok. Someone PUHLEEZE explain me WHY is Sherrie Moon-Zappa-Zombie (She's not really a Zappa but her name calls for a joke!!) back in H2? She committed suicide in Rob's first remake!! Oh what- more flashback scenes? A pathetic and expolitive attempt to give your wife work. Can she not get hired by someone else? Hell- even Tori Spelling stopped working with her father at some point!! It's not that I am not excited for a remake of H2. Of course I will see it. But just freakin annoyed that Sherrie is back and YES people. YES it needs to be explained how Michael survived Laurie shooting him in the head. IT DOES, IT DOES. It was point blank!! Um..DUH!!!

It be interesting where rob takes this. Carpenter's halloween is very good. Especially for its time. I also think it needs little updating for our time. Joshua1983
3:26am, January 4, 2009

SERIOUSLY tired hearing the whole "Oh it's not like the original" or "not as good as original" if it was either it be a photocopy. Carpenter even told Rob when he asked him about doing the first movie to give it his own touch to make it "HIS" that's why it had that hickish style with the same cast Rob hires same people just like Adam Sandler he takes care of his people I saw the remake I liked it, I said it was better updated for the new generation. No one will ever like a remake or sequel, all I hear is they suck but yet people see them?!? Why would you watch something you hate? Hell my favorite part about this halloween was Rob didn't have some stupid love story to it like 99% of movies do anymore. I will see this one and I'm sure will like it but not sure yet I like Rob's ideas there "different" to say the least! Compared to 90% of the horror crap that came out this last year like One Missed Call,Strangers,Cloverfield ect. I saw all and even got some on DVD but after 2 times cannot stand em no more. Least be thankful 2009 is shaping up to be a great year in horror movies cause the last few years have totally sucked! All it been is pumping sequels of year after year of non good movies such as the Pulse. One last question if you would hate Rob doing these movies why do you see em or even read about them? john gave him the OK to do it.. be like me going to a Jonas Bros. site to say they suck just stupid.

For all those saying it's a rush job, I have to totally disagree... it seems pretty clear that T-REX was a red herring and Zombie has been working on H2 for a lot longer than any of us realised. As for the film itself, this Zombie/Halloween bashing is just getting so fucking tiresome - if you don't like either, don't watch them and better still, fuck off and post your hate on some other thread and stop taking up space for us real fans.

Rob zombie is a awesome director and has not put a foot wrong anywhere yet as far as his films go for horror fans, Halloween was a masterpiece and the best remake of a classic horror ever! I would say it was one of my top 10 best horror ever! it was perfect, the sequal if being made by zombie then it will undoubtedly be amazing and another all time horror classic! we should be proud that we have these movies and platinum dunes never got there first.

everyones going to end up loving this one because everyones expecting it to suck so much ass cheek. Too high of expectations for the first made it suck wee wee and too low of expectations are going to make this one seem good. At least thats what im going to predict. And see the movie before you bitch, hell this could be a pile of shit on film but who knows it could be good, give it a bloody chance, yo.

drmodem
10:26am, January 4, 2009

I think the problem is that the horror genre has changed very quickly recently to accommodate a much more ferocious and realistic kind of violence. The remake of Halloween was quite nasty but considering the budget and the talent involved it really did nothing to push the boundaries of the genre. This is also a time when the industry has been saturated with awful prequels, sequels and remakes, it really needs an injection of something fresh. I just can't help but feel that after seeing films like Eden Lake and Martyrs, Zombie's big lumbering Michael Myers just seems a bit ridiculous...

jigsawkiller86
10:37am, January 4, 2009

i dont know if i think the films is rushed, they could have been secretly planning this shit since the first one was released in theaters.

mechanicalape
10:39am, January 4, 2009

"Bigger" and "Meaner" are the main reasons Zombie's Myers sucked out loud. Apparently Rob has a hard time distinguishing who belongs in Haddonfield and and who belongs in Crystal Lake.

DBlock
11:42am, January 4, 2009

Ok, comparing Zombie and Carpenter is just dumb. Two completely different visions. A 6'10 masked psycopath wielding a 10 inch butcher knife chasing you like a track star is not terrifying? Yes it is! Rushed? It is naive to think this projesct was not in the works for some time now. Backstories, well in the present day we question everything because of these pioneering movies. We've evolved since then. to all the people over analyzing Zombies vision, in the originals Michael was shot 6 times, fell off a second story terrace backwards, shot in both eyes by Laurie before Loomis blew them up in the hospital. Michael survives and returns for part4 through Ressurection and thats not far fetched? Stop hating and relish in the fact we all get one of our favorite horror icons back in full force! Love this year for Horror!

DBlock, Muggs, Joshua1983, thank you. It's just a movie, not the same movie, a new movieusing the same source material. Nitpicking over points large or small is ridiculous. You like the original, great, so do I. You didn't like the remake, thats ok, the original still exists. I like both and choose to watch both. ITS NOT A REPLACEMENT its only a remake, relax. Be open minded. And why does RZ have to justify why MM survived a gunshot? JC never did: 6 to the chest, hanger in the eye, eyes shot out in pt 2...I will reserve judgement until I see the movie. Until then, I'm looking forward. And if you r a RZ hater, its simple, don't go see it, but don't comment on something you haven't seen yourself. I don't judge Carpenter for Ghosts of mars...

Falconetti1
1:21pm, January 4, 2009

Again, as I said on an earlier forum, you can see the stitching on the mask on the teaser poster, showing that Mikey did indeed take a bullet to the face, be it thru the mouth, etc. I will go and see it tho, although I do despair at the loss of any attempt at realism. For years I argued that the original Shape was human - IMO it's scarier if it's more realistic - but I eventually conceded that anyone/thing taking six bullets and all the rest of the trauma MUST be supernatural. And that of course was the denouement of Carpenter's classic - we think Mike is another masked looney killer until at the end he is clearly ... something else. Hopefully Zombie will still have a surprise or two up his sleeve.

Jason Can Kill Me Anyday!
1:26pm, January 4, 2009

I think people are demanding explanations as to how he survived the gun shot because the remake tries to explain everything, from why he turned into a killer to why he wants to see his sister. I don't care if there is no explanation or not, I'm just stoked to see Mikey back. Oh, and also, that would totally be cool if H3 (If they continue with thus) was a remake of the original Halloween 3. Sure, it didn't belong in the series, but man was that an underrated movie. It was awesome!

Speaking for myself I do not hate Rob Zombie or his remake of Halloween. Rather enjoyed his vision overall. Sure I had opinions on certain things but hell I can watch a commerical and say I did or did not like this or that. My biggest complaint is his casting his wife in the H2 remake!! Who cares how hot someone thinks she is. Her character freakin committed suicide!! Bring her back even in flashbacks is useless and pathetic. But as the filmmaker he can what he pleases. I said it before and I will say it again- I will go see H2. I'm a huge Myers fan. But I don't feel I am a "hater" because I voice my opinions. I'm willing to give it at least one screening before giving it a thumbs up or thumbs down. However, Sherrie gets a pre-screening thumbs down. She was likeable in Halloween but not needed for the sequel. Not at all. I prefer plot over T&A any day.

2:27am, January 5, 2009

I would be willing to wager that many of you telling others to shut up were on the other end of the stick when it came to Texas Chainsaw. Look, setting the facts aside, and forgetting it's a remake and Halloween becomes even worse. The biggest problem with the script and the film overall, was that no-body has any reason to give a shit about any of them characters. The second biggest problem was the acting. Especially Rob Zombies wife, if he was a real artist, he wouldnt continously cast his wife who cannot act. I exhaled in excitement when she blew her brains out in the first film. What purpose could she possibly serve in H2? None - it's just another stupid choice Mr. Zombie is making. The remake of Halloween is absolutely one of the worse horror films to come along in a long time, and it's becaus Rob Zombie isn't a director, he is a musician. his films get better as they go, but that isn't saying much considering the best thing he has done is the faux trailer for Werewolf Women. I was willing to give him a chance when he did the first film, just like everyone should be willing to give all remakes a chance, but he fucked it up - bad. I'm done.

Dude, rob makes grindhouse type movies. If you looking for an oscar performance go watch a denzel washington movie. I agree the characters could be more developed but who gives a shit it a slasher flick. I thought this was bloody-disgusting.com not the actors studio with james lipton. I understand if someone doesnt like a film but everyone reason for not liking zombies halloween is some nit picky bull that shouldnt pertain to a horror film. Tell me one good acting performance from ANY friday the thirteenth, short of donald pleasence ANY halloween film? Slasher flicks are not about top notch acting but scares, blood, and boobs which zombie delivered. Cut loose and watch it or dont, its just a slasher flick not saving private ryan.

In response to some of the bullet comments, Obie Trice got shot in the head at close range with a bullet. If it went two inches farther into his skull he would died- he's still alive and talented. I would ask what plot holes are being mentioned in the first Halloween that the sequels didn't cover, but I probably won't look at this article again.

I can't believe that some of you people are so negative over this, but at the same time your jizzing in your pants for the Friday the 13th remake. I'm sure that won't be disappointing! Also, the "looks rushed" comment... Do any of you brain surgeons own a calender? It's 8 months away (if it even comes out in August)! How long do you think it takes to film a horror film? I think EvilOnTwoLegggs, from the OHMB forums, put it best: Well, that answers everything. Look at the entrance and exit wounds. Obviously, Myers grabbed Laurie's hand and turned his head to the right. The bullet entered the mask almost dead-center, grazed his forehead, and exited on the right side. Considering the fact that the mask isn't a skin-tight fit, this is entirely possible. And yes, for those who are wondering, a graze wound on the head would unleash a lot of blood. The scalp is home to the densest concentration of blood vessels in the human body.

Alright, i think most of you people who did not like the first one and swear not to like the second one are trying to compare this one to great films from the past. Yes, these two films are remakes, but in their own rights they are also thier own films and should be looked at as such not just as a remake. We should not be comparing the old and the new in horror films because most of the new are remakes of the old. Alot of people loved the old stuff and get very upset when they see people trying to make them "better". Sometimes they are and sometimes they arent. If you are a person who is pussy hurt at the fact that a movie that you loved a long time ago is being remade, not because the other wasnt good enough but because that is the way the horror film bussiness goes, then i feel sorry for you because you are not looking at both sides of the argument.
