While Rob Zombie has officially begun casting H2, the sequel to his own remake of HALLOWEEN, Dimension Films has officially slated the film for release on August 28, 2009. Watch for official casting news as it comes in. Tyler Mane is the only confirmed cast member returning as he'll once again rock the mask of the infamous Michael Myers. In other news, Zombie's action film Tyrannosaurus Rex has officially been pulled off Dimensions' release slate (obviously).
I'm really hoping this is done right. It could highlight a few aspects of the first and hopefully the continuity would make me like the first more than I do. I know it's possible, I just don't know if Zombie can pull it off.
I have a feeling this movie is a lot further in development than they want us to believe. Didn't the first one start filming in Sept 06 for a Aug 07 release. Thats 11 months. I think the script has been finished for a while now and most of the cast has already been in place
There must be a script ready if they are filming in February I think it has been said. October would have been perfect. Maybe the August date is one they think they can dominate the box office dollar. I'm very curious to read the plot and details to this. I know BD will be on it and report as soon as it's available.
Actually, the first one was shot from late January into the middle of February of 2007. As long as the script is done, all they have to get on is casting a location scouting and all the stuff that comes before shooting. But there will be different people that can do many of those things at the same time, so hopefully they get on it ASAP.
I am really wanting Zombie to do a great job at this. I love Zombie and I really enjoy everything he does, but I am hoping that he doesn't rush this. A lot of people now will be watching this movie looking for anything to put it down. Don't let us down Rob!!!
i would really rather wait, my friends and i go and see a scary movie every halloween. last year we saw saw 5. well we all know how bad that movie was. it would have been nice to see H2 this year. and also they are rushing this thing
Obviously Zombie has been working on this longer than we were led to believe. It's also likely that this film's story will be a bit less complex than that of the previous film, which will make shooting on such a short schedule easier than last time. While we're likely to see young Michael, his mom, etc. in flashbacks, it's unlikely that the film's three acts will involve three completely different periods in Michael's life the wya the last one did. This one figures to be more fo a straightforward slasher film in its structure.
i think having it come out in august is kind of silly on there part. They should release it in october sometime. It seems rob been working on the script for sometime. I hope its straight ahead slashing this time around. I would like michael to actually try to kill laurie this time. Bring back the orange titles. Will see if rob can deliver. I still have hopes he can. He shouldn't try to please everyone just go all out on this one. NO holding back this time around. Keep the halloween theme also.
Is it really asking too much for an October release? I'm getting pretty fucking tired of seeing these in the summer. Sure it makes the wait not as long, but it just isn't the same as if it were released in the fall. Plus if it really is going to be released in August they'll have to work quick. A rushed production is one of the reasons Halloween 5 was a failure.
boy have they made a HUGE mistake here. I would say about 10% of the people who saw zombies pos movie liked it. Don't expect the rest of us to be fooled again into coughing up our money again. The only chance this movie had was new directors and a new vision. If dimension spent even 5 min online they would realize most everyone HATED it. UGH.
I was hoping for an October release. But at least this way we get it earlier. Can't wait to see who else gets casted. Hopefully Danielle Harris is interested in coming back. I know Scout is so no problems there.
I enjoyed maybe ten minutes of Zombie's remake. If they drop the stupid as kid, get a few good supporting actors, lay off on the body count, and ease up on the blood... I might give a tiny rats ass to see this one. But, this IS Rob Zombie, the biggest D Bag in the industry so I'm not holding my breath.
Oh, and for those of you noting the August release... remember, the last one released in Auguest and made huge bank. Why would they fix something that isn't broken?
Oh Christ. Eight months of daily BD headline updates consisting of "Zombie casts X actor", "Zombie casts Y actress", "Zombie releases first movie still", "Zombie says he never reads the internet then updates blog", etc.
They seriously need to recast Laurie for this one, because Scout couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. That was the one and only problem I had with the first one.
I bet you guys ten bucks that the whole T-REX movie was a cover up, just to hide the fact that Rob was working on the sequel to his movie HALLOWEEN. He just wanted to wait until everything was set in stone.
BOMBTHREAT. I respect your opinion, but I would argue your estimation of only 10% of all who saw it, liked it and the rest hated it is way off. If it was so hated and a disaster, not only would they not bring back Zombie, they also would not make this sequel. The reality is it made alot of money and was cosidered a big success. I realize it was hated by most critics and gets slammed by alot of people on the blogs, but the end result (MONEY) doesn't lie. There were millions of people that gave up there money and will do so again.
All I see is the word "rushed" but then you'd all bitch if you had to wait 4 years, stop whining. I look forward to the movie. If you have a problem with the releases date, go ahead and write a letter to the tards at Dimension.
I loved RZ's first one, but I think this will be better. He has more of a blank slate to work with and can go in any direction he chooses, rather than "re-imagining" the original.
Almost all the people hated it? Really? I've been on the sites and reading blogs for 2 years now. I'd say it split down the middle to make an accurate statement. Coming way to fast? The original were 2 years apart and so are these two. Rushed? Naive. Whatever, I'll be there to support the franchise like a true fan so will the haters so they can find something else to cry about. Make an opinion after you've seen it so you do not sound like you are just a hater.
If this isn't a rushed film, then this is by far the best time to release the movie. August 28th weekend is this year's Labor Day weekend, and RZH still holds the best box office record for LD weekend, so I'm all for this date.
uh call me dumb i thought that it would be released in october since its HALLOWEEN month??? but then again wasnt the remake released in august i seem to remember??? even though i aint seeing it....plus i thought that it would be released in october to take on the never ending pointless SAW movies?? (no offense to any saw fans)
bombthreat you are totally off saying only 10% of us liked the Halloween remake because from all the blogs and forums i read it is basically about half and half and plus it wouldn't of made as much money as it did if it wasn't more well liked and Dimension sure as hell wouldn't be putting out a sequel with the same director. I loved the remake and am looking forward to H2
