This morning we got our hands on the DVD cover art for Sony Home Entertainment's Quarantine, which arrives on DVD February 17th. To my surprise, the cover features a quote from yours truly, "Quite possibly the best horror film this year." One thing that I am proud of here at B-D is that we really, really, really try to only be quoted on films we are behind and think you'll love. I get requests weekly from companies asking for quotes (The Grudge 3 being the latest) and pass on 99% of them. Suffice to say, I've been working on my top 10 of 2008 list and QUARANTINE isn't my favorite film of the year, but what I will say is that it was freaking tough to even pick ten good films. Either way, I'm pretty proud of this quote and will continue to do my best to keep our name only on quality films (even though sometimes a writer will provide a quote and I'm not even informed, which they're supposed to do). Read on for the art and the specs.
Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been viciously attacked by something unknown. After a few of the residents are also attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.
Special Features:
Commentary with Writer/Director John Erick Dowdle and Writer/Producer Drew Dowdle
Locked In: The Making of Quarantine
Dressing the Infected: Robert Hall's Make-Up Design
The DVD artwork isn't the best, but isn't the worst. Protecious were you expecting a Godfather movie? I understand REC is better but remakes aren't suppose to be Oscar worthy. Just a half decent film that reminded us what happened in the first film.
I tried watching this movie but couldn't finish it it's just not the same [rec] was sooo good it scared the crap out of me and I know this is basically almost a shot for shot remake but there's just something about it I don't like. It's better in spanish!!!
