Rob Zombie Officially Directing 'Halloween' Sequel

Rob Zombie is packing up and heading back to Haddonfield for H2, the sequel to his remake of John Carpenter's classic film from 1978. While other horror websites patronized us for reporting the story broke by Shock, it appears the egg is in their face as Zombie will return to both write and direct the sequel to HALLOWEEN for Dimension Films. Read on for the official news and full details on the deal. What do you guys think? Where should Zombie take the sequel?

Dimension Films and Rob Zombie are teaming for another chapter of "Halloween," and he's racing to scare up the pic for release in October.

Zombie will write and direct "H2," the sequel to his 2007 reinvention of the John Carpenter horror classic. Production will begin in March.

The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.

Zombie said it won't resemble the original second installment, as the "House of 1000 Corpses" helmer continues to take the franchise in different directions.

Zombie took Carpenter's original and stamped it with an original storyline that treated Myers as a clinical psychopath. The film grossed $60 million domestically in 2007.

Zombie had told Dimension chief and TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein he wanted nothing to do with a sequel. But just like the franchise's villain, Zombie was compelled to come back.

"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie said. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

Malek Akkad of Trancas Intl. Films will produce with Spectacle Entertainment's Andy Gould.

I hope he doesn't have Michael as the lead character now..because i think we get the point.. I think we should get to know a little more about the new laurie strode. It would be good to have the shape back.

Im glade that Zombie wont be going back to the original H2 story and make something new and fresh cuz if he did then everyone will be looking for similarities like they did on the first one and everyone will be talking shit and be pissed off and just shit on it cuz they didn't stay true to the original but im excited for this one and hope it will make an October release.

I haven't seen all of Rob Zombie's movies. I saw that movie "The Devil's Rejects" and didn't like it very much. After seeing that and seeing his remake of Halloween, I pretty much know that I just don't like his directing. His remake of Halloween was very good, but I just don't agree with his directing; there's something off about it. One thing I did like about "his" Michael Myers was that he got that guy to play as him who was huge! In my opinion, Michael looks good when he: -smashes through walls and doors to get through them or to grab someone. -he lifts someone up and stabs them onto a wall or such -when he walks slow OR power-walks after his victim -when he leans his head back and forth after killing someone -smashes people into things -walks through a pane of glass as if it wasn't there (just some of my personal likes on Michael's characteristics.) I am excited for the sequel though! I hope we can again see Michael stalk Laurie Strode in a creepy hospital with with his scalpel! -Matt

Maybe next he'll remake JAWS with his wife as Chief Brody and Captain Howdy as Quint.... The shark will be eating people because it was sexually molested by fishermen shortly after birth. When Rob Zombie remade Halloween he took a big dump on a classic. Please stop Rob.

Ugh. Rob Zombie disappointed me with the remake. I loved House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects so as a huge fan of the original Halloween, I was definitely happy he was behind it. Makes me feel kinda stupid now. That movie was a chance to prove his diversity as a director, and instead of doing that he just did the same thing again but with Michael Myers. I was hoping a new director would go in a different direction with the sequel. All I can say now is that I hope he makes a good Halloween movie, I doubt it, but nothing is impossible. And is it really called H2? Cause seriously, WTF???
