Warner Bros. Pictures provided Bloody-Disgusting with the first ever stills from Jaume Collet-Serra's (House of Wax) newest horror flick, The Orphan, which stars Peter Sarsgaard, Vera Farmiga, Isabelle Fuhrman, Lorry Ayers, David Leonard and Skye Peters. The film, which arrives in theaters July 24th. is about Kate Coleman, a Young mother devastated by the loss of a baby, (and her resulting inability to conceive more children), and decides-along with her husband, John to fill the empty space in their broken hearts by adopting another child. Little could they know that the child they adopt, Esther, would turn out to be anything other than what they hoped for.
NEW SYNOPSIS: The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate and John, taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate's fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther. Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there's something wrong with Esther--this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late...for everyone.
Hmm, this flick might be good. I liked Jaume Collet-Serra´s work on House of Wax and so far this looks good. Kind of like a mix between Bad Seed, Joshua and The Good Son.
i love me some vera farmiga. i wanna see this. badly. although...not too crazy on the girl playing esther. she doesn't look too angelic in that one pic...hopefully she's able to "turn it on" as it were.
Geez...could it be that the girl has 3 sixes in the back of her head?!! Lol.
