Platinum Dunes Takes on Satanic Cults

Love 'em or hate 'em, Platinum Dunes is rolling in horror, which should make most of you happy considering the lack of horror films hitting theaters. With THE UNBORN coming out in January and FRIDAY THE 13TH in February, they are ready to get the show on the road with their remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and now they're reteaming with TEXAS CHAINSA MASSSACRE and AMITYVILLE HORROR writer Scott Kosar on a new satanic thriller. Read on for the skinny.

Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Friday the 13th) told SCI FI Wire that they are developing an original as-yet-untitled supernatural thriller film with Scott Kosar--the writer of the duo's hit TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake--which will center on satanic cults.

"It is a story about a college girl whose brother dies, and she goes to investigate his death and finds he was into some pretty freaky stuff," Fuller told the site. "And [she] wants to get to the bottom of it. And doing so, has to see some things that maybe she didn't want to see. That are unsettling."

Fuller adds that they want the feel to feel realistic and scary....

"We want it to feel real. That is a scary thing. You know, we talk about real-life scary stuff, which we talked about earlier, like home invasions and stuff that really gets to us, and that stuff is scary," he says.

This could be good. I agree that the real life topics are what is real SCARY rather than make believe monsters. That is what I thought made "The Strangers" so good was that it was something that could happen to anyone. Satanic shit is very freaky and real.

Be cooler if they remade Race With The Devil, but this sounds rockin' too. Platinum Dunes is kicking 2009's ass already, with The Unborn, Friday the 13th and The Horsemen all coming out before the end of March.

NO SCOTT KOSAR!! He sucks! If you want a bunch of useless suspense (and illogical) moments in your film, he's your guy. If you want a script that's actually any good, look elsewhere.

sounds different..i agree the REAL life horror is more scarier that the fake stuff. (look at excorsist that happened in real life only with a boy amitville horror, lets see texas chainsaw massacre)..so they are going ahead woith the nightmare on elm street remake?!?!?!?! that blows, but then again ill be honest, i was against teh friday the 13 remake and so far i am loving every bit of it. so maybe ill give nightmare on elm street remake a chance. MAYBE.,,,,still as to see the strangers on dvd......

Where are all the haters now? "Oh why don't you make your own movies instead of doing remakes?" Well, here they are making their own movie and all the whiny babies have nothing to say. Glad to see you guys are doing something original, can't wait for more info.

Thank you Disanti! But I'm sure that the whinebags will point out that todays original movie will merely be remade a decade or two from now.

The reason no horror is hitting theaters is because its become a joke, thanks in part to the awful Platinum Dunes.
