This movie was hands down fucking awful.
Cliche, terribly acted, and just not scary. At best its a reminder of why PG13 Creepy Kid horror movies suck. I'm a little disappointed in Rogue, they showed they were heading in a promising direction with The Strangers, which yeah, has a weak ending, but is still an overall great scary movie.
Personally, I think Goyer should stick to writing and not directing, because when he focuses solely on writing, hes great (see Blade 1-2, Batman Begins). But when he directs, he loses alot of that focus and almost wastes his writing talent (Blade Trinity, The Invisible, and now The Unborn).
Yustman was terrible in this, no way to sugarcoat that. Partner that with the bad dialogue, and the ever so annoying Meagan Good, and you have yourself a twosome of lead and supporting female characters that had me contemplating leaving many times throughout the movie.
I'm all for "original" movies, and I agree that remakes and sequels are getting out of control. But when studios are greenlighting original shit like this, FUCK IT. I welcome the Friday The 13th and Nightmare on Elm St remakes with open arms.
But then again, those are Platinum Dunes productions, and so was The Unborn. Only time will tell.
