Universal Pictures has officially bumped the release of Joe Johnston's The Wolfman from its April 3rd slot all the way until November 9, 2009. Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., the new pic will be set in Victorian England. Benicio Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence. What a fucking insult to the horror fans, the same horror fans that the whole nostolgic Universal fan base would be making up the majority of this audience. As Axl Rose is finding out now the whole wait and you shall recieve treatment doesn't really work anymore, or at all. The thing is the main interest in this film is by the folks who will actually pay to see it, they are the ones who want the nostalgia, the Universal Monster fans who hated the Van Helsing cartoon cgi garbage a few years ago and have to rely on the memories, the atmosphere etc... of the originals. We have already waited far too long, pushing it back another year is gonna do the same thing the GNR release did, make the true fans get angry and not give a fuck.
We were ready, we wanted it, it was the right time.. and the BOOM, It's all over1 just like the interest of the core audience! Keep us waiting, and keep loosing cash for you and everyone involved, not to mention the whole Wolfman project
Why can't studios just release movies and be on to the next one, Why the big wait. All it does is cause people to loose interest and forget about the movie and then the studios are upset that a movie doesn't do well.
The November date is the same weekend that Quantum Of Solace killed in this year. Universal probabably has high expectations for The Wolfman and wants to take advantage of the Halloween season to advertide it. Sucks that we have to wait, but it'll be worth it not to get lost in the pre-summer season.
Oh no never a good sign The bootleg trailer I have seen was awesome. However I was confused as to how a white guy from england is the father of a Mexican guy? Oh well I want to see it though
the 1941 flick had automobiles in it. so the time period was roughly... 1941.
and thats a bigass bump back.
this was my most anticipated fun flick for the new year and im bummed i hafta wait.
this blows go figure finally get to see a decent movie even if it is a remake and then they push it back and put crappy movies out to replace it. oh well i guess worth the wait until november.
Of course, it could also be that they decided to let Rick Baker do the transformation scenes and such instead of using CGI.
(long shot, but I'm stupid with hope sometimes.....)
