While 20th Century Fox finalizes the release of his remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOD STILL (in theaters Friday), director Scott Derrickson is prepping his next film, Paradise Lost, which is based on John Milton's classic poem from 1667. The boys over at Sci Fi Wire had the chance to talk in depth about his vision for the film that revolves around the fall of man and the classic battle of good vs. evil, telling along the way the story of Satan/Lucifer, the angel who tries to overthrow God, and the temptation of Adam and Eve and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden (loads of cool stuff!). Derrickson also directed THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE for Sony Screen Gems.
Ever since I read Paradise Lost in high school I've thought it would make the best movie. But of course, only if done right. PLEASE don't fuck this up. This has a chance to be really awesome.
i have been reading paradise lost and am half way done. it would be a sweet movie if done right. it has the potential for a great movie but in the wrong hands potential to crucified.
There have already been a few film adaptations of Paradise Lost. It wouldn't be horror. It wouldn't even be about the war. Paradise Lost is just a story about the Fall of Man. Oh, and there is a Dante's Inferno movie that is in production as well. Again, there have already been several of those as well.
Looking forward to news on this. This is intresting but if not done right can suck very badly. I hope he does a good job and just thinking about the possible visuals makes me want to see this even more.
