Sony's 'The Grudge 3' Gets R-rating?!

According to the official website for the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), they have given Sony Home Entertainment's The Grudge 3 an R-rating for "for violence, disturbing images and some language." This is pretty cool news considering the first two films were rated PG-13. In the third film directed by Toby Wilkins (Splinter), a young Japanese woman holds a secret to ending the curse of the Grudge. She travels to a haunted Chicago apartment building where she encounters a family battling to survive the ghosts. Together they confront the ghost of Kayako to save their souls from their impending tragic fate. Click here to watch the trailer for the direct-to-DVD sequel arriving in stores March of '09.

Sweet. Now I really can't wait for this one. I thought the only plus was going to be that Shawnee Smith was in it.

.....R rating might before many things (nudity, gore) but dosen't have to be that much of it to get the R rating so I'm not so happy especially when it's going Direct to DVD

I'll give it a shot. Loved the first, hated the second. But what the hell, I'm in.

Was their first trailer so unsuccessful that they're going to resort to the same tactics as 'The Happening'? "THE FIRST R-RATED GRUDGE MOVIE!" Sigh- still not into it.

The first sucked so I didn't bother with the second and don't plan on bothering with this one. I don't care if it's Rated-R. That doesn't necessarily mean much.

The first two were R-rated as well once on video. Yes they called it "unrated", but that just means the scenes they had to trim from the original R ratings to make it teeny bopper friendly in theaters were re-inserted. The only difference here is the movie is bypassing the theater all together and getting it's intended rating to begin with.
