Yea, so how are they going to do the sequel is smith is dead? Tell everyone to watch the special edition DVD for the alternate ending? The ONLY thing that could work is a prequel...which I wouldn't mind see those things go batshit crazy on Smith and some survivors. Too bad it will probably be PG-13 or some bullshit.

I thought I AM LEGEND was just ok. Not bad, but as far as end of the world zombie shit, it did not hold up to 28 WEEKS LATER or the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake.

maybe they are going with smith in the trunk of the car, al messd up from the explosion and then healed. or going the blade way and make him one of those things to keep him alive and fix him with the cure that vega holds at the end. just toughts. i prefer a proper adaptation of the book than a sequel prequel or anything.

Since they left out a large portion of the book, a prequel is the only way to go. Richard Matheson is my favorite author...I wonder what he thinks about this?

they shouldnt even make a sequel/prequel whatever to this. he died at the end. unless they would just do the movie with all who survived who got "the cure" at the end of the movie and just show him in flashbacks or something, but nah.......$$$$ man i guess if a movie goes well over 10.000 they just greenlight a sequel who cares about the fans or whatever. We are all definitely excited about this news. Hey, do you smell that? That's sarcasm! Will Smith is a good actor (although it seems odd to see him in horror movies). I Am Legend could have been great except for two things - one is that 28 Days / Weeks Later came out before and blows it away. Secondly, the fucking CGI ruins the whole overall gritty feel that an End of the World movie should have. In closing; we might forgive Will for more Legend, but keep him the fuck away from Oldboy.

I am Legend was a good, entertaining and stand alone film in my opinion (except for the CGI, that party was laughably phony and annoying at times) and there is really no need for a prequel or sequel in my opinion. Also, I think the studio should have went with the original alternate ending that you can only see on DVD.
