This weekend we got our hands on the official casting breakdown for Dark Castle's The Summoner, which is slated to be directed by James Cox this December in Portland, OR. The story centers on a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being to our world. When his control begins to slip and the situation turns deadly, he must stop the onslaught of evil before it's too late.
David Ambrose: Mid-Late 20's. A quiet, lonely writer with few friends. Smart and passionate. He's spent four years trying to get his novel published. With no luck, he has worked at a fine bookstore focusing on old books. While at work, he discovers one in particular with a hidden message, "Onne the Methodes of Summoning Demons." With this he unleashes a dark power he never thought possible. Now he must withstand a grueling interrogation by a police psychiatrist to explain what has happened. Lead.
Rapier: 20s. Charming, graceful and controlled. At a glance, he appears to be just an intense man but Rapier is a demon. And not just any demon, he's a prince. He has the ability to draw people in and make them do anything. He takes David under his wing and teaches him how to be stronger, more confident, and how to win the girl of his dreams. And it works...but with a price. Lead.
Charlott Glass: Mid 30s, any ethnicity. Beautiful but tries to hide it. Full of compassion, she is a psychiatrist who appears to be nervous, awkward, and maybe even a little inexperienced as she questions David on the murders. As the questioning progresses, we learn that she is in fact the opposite of what we thought. She is smart, elegant, and has a clever plan to get the information she needs from David. Lead.
Melissa: 20's, any ethnicity. A dancer. An ethereal beauty. The girl next door. She is David's dream girl. She is confident, friendly, and effortlessly cool. At first, thought to be way out of David's league, she quickly falls for him and finds herself the object of a dangerous triangle. Lead.
Detective Mallen: Late 30's-Early 50's, any ethnicity. Powerful, intense. One of the first on the scene of a gruesome murder and interrogates David with no patience or sympathy. He uses intimidation to scare David into telling him what he wants to know to save a young woman's life (but he is not a screamer). Supporting Lead.
Charles: 28. A handsome, overly confident (if not sleazy) co-worker at the bookstore. This guy doesn't take his job too seriously and is more interested in the pretty girls coming in, than he is of the books he's selling. Supporting.
Nathan Bierbaum: 60s. A gentle man with an old soul, he owns the bookstore where David works. Very supportive of David and his writing ambitions. A true lover of rare books. Supporting.
Mike Hirsch: 40s. A reputable publisher, he is outgoing and fun. He meets David out on the town and expresses interest in reading (and eventually publishing) his book. Supporting.
Salesman: This salesman works at an high-end boutique and has exquisite tastes in men's clothing. He sells David and Rapier expensive attire. Unknowingly, he falls under the spell of Rapier and lets them walk out the store in new clothes...never paying a cent. Supporting.
