Incredible Concept Art For 'Mortis Rex'

A long time in the making is Peter Briggs' Mortis Rex, which we first told you about here a few weeks back. We caught wind of the project at this year's AFM in Santa Monica, CA, which is set in 122 AD, the story follows a disgraced Roman war hero who comes face to face with a supernatural beast causing horrendous deaths. Beyond the break you can check out four pieces of concept art for the film, which will shoot in the second quarter of 2009. Mortis Rex is Latin for "king of death."

Nice. Need a good archaic, midieval movie with mass monster deaths. Dragons got played out. In D&D, weren't there literally 100's of beasts to die by? With today's effects, a good bloody dungeon monster movie would be pretty cool to see I think. At least this is going in that direction...

i love this artwork and the story sounds great. i agree w/ JohnMarrone (even the *cough*midieval part! LOL) that dragons got a little played out (even though i kinda liked Reign of Fire).

Get ready for some awful CG. Too bad, as this seems like it could be a cool film.

MAnn this sounds awesome, there batter be some awesome fight scenes in it like maybe the whole Roman Army just sending in wave after wave of troops attacking it.

yeah sounds good, but unfortunately...I have a feeling the straight to video/scifi channel comments might be correct.

The AFM information said that this was being made through Intandem, who made "How To Lose Friends And Alienate People", which was distributed theatrically through Paramount. So pretty much a theater release. Also, the FX are apparently by Pixomondo, who are doing Emmerich's "2012" right now. Check their website out...the stuff they did for "Red Baron" was incredible. I'm stoked. This could rock.
