Universal Prepping Fifth 'Tremors', Possible Reboot?

One of my favorite franchises that was run into the ground is Tremors, which started back in 1990 when natives of a small isolated town, defend themselves against strange underground creatures which are killing them one by one. Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross starred. Nearly twenty years later (good god), Universal Pictures is ready for another underground attack as a fifth film is in the works. Read on for the details.

Cinemablend reports that a fifth TREMORS has already been greenlit and will take the creature to Australia (I guess they travel underwater too).

"We’ve heard from friends on the inside that a fifth TREMORS movie is being prepped by Universal Pictures. This one will shift locations to Australia, which should mean at least one or two cool scenes in which the graboids swallow a Kangaroo or a family of Koalas. They’re calling it TREMORS: THE THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER."

They also tease that it could end up being developed into a remake.

"Odds are it’ll end up direct-to-dvd, but with Hollywood’s recent proclivity for rebooting everything in sight, don’t rule out the possibility of an attempt to relaunch the thing as a viable, theatrical horror franchise."

Honestly, I'd rather see a quality re-boot than another crappy sequel. Still, I'll see it regardless. I loved the first.

I hope they don't morph into Kangaroos. Didn't that happen in one of the Howling movies? I'd like to see some flashbacks to the beginning of time, where graboids floated around space dispensing "the spice" from their mouths, creating the universe, and eventually the planet they call Dune... Kevin Bacon plays Sting.

Would love to see another one of these movies, something close to the original this time as that is a classic good ol' monster flick!
