What is said to be one of the better horror script in production, we're praying that Nicolas Cage doesn't ruin what could be an awesome film. Beyond the break you'll find your first look at Cage rocking some mediaeval clothing in Columbia Pictures' Season of the Witch. The story revolves around a group of knights in 14th century France who must transport a woman accused of witchcraft to a mountain abbey, where the monks will seek to understand and destroy her powers, believed to be the source of the Black Plague.
Nicolas Cage had the performance of career in Leaving Las Vegas, and was pretty good in Matchstick Men and Lord of War. But let's be honest here, everything else he has done.....well, it hasn't been as good as those. I was going to say something much worse that was heavily sprinkled with profanity. But Leaving Las Vegas is one of my favorite movies - so I can't slam him too bad. Who am I kidding? This movie will fucking stink worse than a shitty skid-mark in a railroad bum's underwear!
Title should read: "First look at Ron Perlman in Season Of The Witch." Because who cares about Nic Cage? He's a washup who hasnt made a decent movie in years. Maybe he can turn it around with this.
I really think people should stop taking about Nicholas Cage in a bad way. Sure he's stared in some clunkers like 'The wicker man', 'Next', and 'Bangkok dangerous'. But he did okay in his other films.
another bad hair piece. now he's got the MARTIN RIGGS mullet from LETHAL WEAPON! really i think CAGE should leave the action movies alone and go back to comedy, where he was much better.
To Cathedral,
I thought Hollywood was the place for movies? No, perhaps I was wrong and maybe they should just follow the oh so awesome underground type deal instead of this Hollywood Ass Kicking.
Thats a shame, sounded a good film, but I literally cannot watch Cage in a film, he always looks like his puppy died and unfortunately, thats his only expression.
I can't wait to hear Cage's nasal monotone spout out 14th century colloquialisms: "Gee, gosh, I steadied my horse and galloped into the black forest..." - goddamn, Cage suuuuuucks.
Cage is the fucking man! Sure he is going through a dry-spell with recent movie, but what actor doesn't? Let's just throw this name out there: Jack Nicholson.
Perlman looks incedible in those clothes and the scenery is beautiful. Always liked Cage too, "the car ran over my puppy" expression is somewhat endearing. And maybe acting with Perlman will step up Cage's game; he can be very good, you know.
Oh, shit. Just one look at him in that 2nd pic and I can hear that annoying voice of his already. There's no way he can pull off a 14th century period piece like this. He's going to sound and act and walk and talk exactly the way he always does. It's going to be Nicolas Cage in a knight suit and a bad wig tearing down another motion picture. Period.
Raising Arizona is the exception that proves the rule. Nicholas Cage is a mongoloid who couldn't act if he was the last man on earth entertaining the cockroaches. Holy fuck we need some good horror news!
i think i am going to pass on this. i like maybe few of his movies. (leavin las vegas, city of angels and yes one of the few who actually liked ghost rider) but he was borin in the remake of the wickerman so i think i will pass on this.
Cage has become a parody of the actor he once was. I mean he's not a box office cancer in the league of Kevin Costner but he's no great shakes anymore.
The C.A.T. or Cage Action Trilogy is probably his wheel house or his strength. The Rock, Con Air and Face Off were good for what they were...I can deal with that Nick Cage. Leaving Los Vegas, Honeymoon in Vegas, Raising Arizona were rarities -- Cage at his best. Matchstick Men, Adaptation, Lord of War and Bringing Out the Dead are the best we can hope for in recent times. And everything else, is...well...typical Nick Cage. I don't know who thinks this guy could still carry a movie. Although his best performance in recent times has been Werewolf Women of the S.S.
