So it's not just enough that the world is ending, but then they had to add THIS into the plot? : "The story centers on an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe and makes contact with his double in order to prevent an apocalypse predicted by the ancient Mayans." WUH?

People way back when predicted something bad will happen 1/1/00, 6/6/06, and nothing AT ALL happened. What makes us think something will happen on 12/21/12?

Not to mention that the earth is very old... Some predict it to be around 4.5 BILLION years old. The odds of the world actually ending while any of us are alive is extremely narrow minded and silly. Now, obviously it could happen because I think that one day this planet will cease to exist. Maybe it'll be in 100 years or 2 billion years from now. Who knows? But the odds of it happening within the time span that we are on earth? It's just not likely.

I like the question posed in the teaser. Whether or not it's actually developed in the film, what would the governments of the world do? What about the US??? How could you possibly have a contingency plan? Deep Impact had an interesting plan, right? Save all the "important" people the have a lottery . . . . Anyway, I think it looks promising and I'll be in line with everyone else.

Wow that's a really cool shot with the ocean coming over the mountains, but as was said before, the plot sounds cheesy, and so does the music. I'll still see it though... probably

Haha, way to take an interesting idea and totally ruin it with an obnoxious sci-fi plot. No 2012 prediction is about the "end of the world" anyway, only a rapid or sudden transformation. This includes both the spiritual and technological approaches.

OK trailer, but it seems a bit generic! From what I understand about the true 2012 prophecy, it will not be the end of the world, but is predicted to be the end of the way WE run the world (the end of the cycle), and that evil is meant to be cleansed out of the human race, and our genetic codes will become fully activated. Think what you want about this, but you have to take into account that the Mayans knew something would happen 1000s of years ago due to astrological calculations. They knew that the stars, gravity etc. effect the human body which science is slowly discovering.
