I still don't know how well this will work considering how bad the 3-D is on the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET box set, but according to Amazon, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Friday the 13th Part III: 3-D on DVD February 3rd - hopefully this also means a Blu-ray release day and date with DVD. The package comes with four pairs of 3-D glasses. Directed by Steve Miner, having escaped in the last episode, Jason Voorhees is back, hockey mask and all, to continue his murderous rampage across Crystal Lake! As previously reported, Paramount is also releasing FRIDAY parts I and II on Blu-ray February 3rd.
This is great news! I also read on dvdtimes.co.uk that Paramount will be releasing "Deluxe Editions" of the original "Friday The 13th" and "Part 2". Is this true?
If this is the Red/blue 3D glasses, the 3D will be TERRIBLE and probably will barely work. Just so you know, that's NOT how Friday 3 was presented in theaters, it was using a different 3D technology that was actually good, but my guess is that Paramount is using the RED/BLUE 3D glasses.
As happy as I am to see this, I'll wait for Blu-ray.
I've already spent my hard earned money on two versions of the F13 movies on DVD (not counting the VHS I bought a long time ago).
I know Paramount likes to gauge future releases on the sales of current releases but I can't be the guinea pig anymore.
I love this movie in 3-D. It's probably the most fun of any of the 1983-D movies. That said, I'm disappointed that (if) they only release an anaglyph. Bootlegs for LCD systems abound, but the image quality is pretty lousy. It'd be a simple matter to release a legit one (now that they've cleaned up the stereo print anyway) and sell enough copies to make it worthwhile, I'm sure.
I saw this one on it's original release way back when (I've been around people). The 3-D was fairly impressive. I seem to remember someone's eye popping out of his head & rushing right at the screen into my lap. That was fucking awesome!! But it seems to me that 3-D doesn't fare as well on small screens & loses most if not all of it's effectiveness. The 3-D "Nightmare On Elm Street being one example. There was another one called "Comin' At Ya" that was released in the 80's in 3-D that was pretty cool but when I got the dvd I could barely make out the film at all 3-D or not. So I wonder about the quality of this latest double dipping exercise.
just bought the 3-d dvd and watched it! it was AWESOME! the movie didn't have any flaws, i only wish it wasn't anaglyph like it was, would've been better polarized or non red/blue anaglyph, but still AWESOME!
