Over at BDTV you'll find John Harrison's adaptation of Clive Barker's Book of Blood, which stars Jonas Armstrong, Sophie Ward, Doug Bradley and Paul Blair. Paranormal researcher Mary Florescu's investigations lead her to Simon McNeal, a college student who appears to be channelling messages from the dead. As their erotic relationship develops the line between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred and finally collapse in a stunning and astonishing climax.
Yeah, that was"Everything in it's right place" by Radiohead, from the album Kid A. And yeah, this looks cool! It's such a short story, I hope they did as good a job expanding it as it looks like they did.
Not that I'm complaining, but why are so many Clive Barker stories being made into films all of a sudden? Midnight Meat Train, talks of a Hellraiser remake, and now Book of Blood... Isn't Dread in production as well? This gives me hopes for a Rawhead Rex remake. That would be cool.
Its a pretty good film. Not the best, but it does the trick. The ending is too 'typical j horror style remake' the moody music and monologue are a tad annoying.
stewietantrum: So many are being made because Barker helped to found his own production company to make them. "The Madonna" and "Pig Blood Blues" are also on the way. I am so thoroughly excited about Dread and PBB.
Book of Blood seems like an odd choice to me, since it was really just a short wraparound story with little plot to it. This movie seems to be less adapted from Book of Blood and more inspired by it.
The film is litterally 'the book of blood' story with abit of exteneded filler at the beginning and at the end is very john carpenter MOH. The first ten minutes are just cool.
It's both The Book of Blood and On Jerusalem Street. Jerusalem was the ender to the six volumes of the Books of Blood collection, but as far as I know it's only been published once here in the states in an uber collection of all six volumes that's a little hard to find. The pieces at the beginning of the trailers and of the woman holding up the skin towards the end are from On Jerusalem Street.
Looks pretty damn good. I hope it is as good as Midnight Meat Train. I still can't believe i couldn't watch that in a theater near where i live but could watch it on my tv for free because i have comcast.
