Update: According to the Box Officie Mojo, REPO! pulled in an incredible $6,450 per screen average for a total of $51,600 on only 8 screens! WOW! This weekend Repo! The Genetic Opera opened in only 8 theaters, yet found a way to pull in an astounding $3,250 per screen (ROLE MODELS only made $2,293 per screen). SpookyDan was on hand at both the premiere and opening night extravaganza in Hollywood where fans lined up around the block to try and get into the sold out screening. You can read all about Dan's experiences at his MySpace page, while if you check out Director Darren Bousman's blog, you can read about his thoughts on the insane turnout, and check out images of the crazy long lines. Click here for full theater playdates and listings. And don't forget to write your own review for the horror rock opera and tell other B-D readers what YOU thought of the movie.

Even though i have seen it 4 times, I am thinking of skipping my plans tonight and heading to Pasadena to see it again!

That is SO awesome! :D I personally loved it, but any review I seem to write just becomes a big pile of squeeing fangirly-ness, so I think I'll just say that I believe it's the "Rocky Horror" of the Millennium. :)

I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but whats the big deal with this movie? BD sure loves promoting it.

clintox, its because the director sucks everyones dick here for the free promotion. he has clearly stated he has no production budget so hes resorted to prostitution. bd please stop trying to fool people into thinking this garbage is worth anything. it isnt even worthy of being in a dollar bin. not only is this movie a piece of shit but the director is a no good hack douchebag.

" but the director is a no good hack douchebag." No that job is reserved for Paul W.S. Anderson....Darren actually gives a shit about his fans and his films, so go take a nice long walk off a short pier.

actually gives a shit about his fans? right. he only "gives a shit" about you because lionsgate doesnt give a shit enough about him to give him a wide theatrical release. where was he giving a shit about his fans when saw 2, 3, 4 were coming out and a guaranteed #1 at the box office? so heather why dont you go fuck yourself. anyone who believes he gives a shit about them is clearly delusional. all he gives a shit about is your money you dumb bitch.

I am seeing it tomorrow. I think it's cool that Bousman tried to do something different.

Why would he need to personally thank fans for the Saw movies? They have a built in audience. They could be directed by a machine for all anyone cares. This was a personal labor of love for the guy and thus he feels more gratitude towards those who appreciate it. Jesus, I wish there was some sort of minimum IQ required to post here.

Anyone know which screening DLB and TZ will be at tonight in Pasadena?

I would be very interested in reviews from anyone, including Horror Kitty, but to claim that "the director is a no good hack douchebag." Well then back it up. Tell us why you didnt like it. Without any substance to back it up, the douchbag claim is nothing but teenaged chatroom bullshit. Is he a douchbag for promoting his film? It seems that just about every director working is promoting their films, its part of the job as a director. As a contributing writer at BD I want to let everyone know when a film stands out from the rest. Repo! is no exception, this is one film that will certainly have people loving and hating it. The world of horror needs to be shaken up every now and again to keep it fresh, when that happens people go a little crazy in both directions. If Horror Kitty likes remakes and generic horror, and not a film that is challenges his/her tastes there’s nothing wrong with that, there is plenty of those film out there. As long as its horror we will report on it, the good the bad and the ugly… but, be certain, we are not being bought or receiving any blowjobs for a good review. Bousman and anyone involved with Repo have never given me a penny to write anything about the film, quite the opposite. I paid my own way to get to Vegas to see the premiere, I bought my own tickets to get into the film last night, and I paid for the soundtrack online. I know I could ask them to “hook me up with a ticket or CD”, but I will put my money where my mouth is and support a film that I really do love.

cheer up haters. the way your all acting on here, "twilight" or the next harry potter is on its way for you. grow some nads and actually see the film rather than rip it apart cause dlb directed it. and im predicting the next post... "ive seen it bitch, moan moan moan" yeh, okay

Oh man, I had a hearty laugh once I read that the LA Times called the film "The Worst Movie Of All Time", because well, it probably is. Watching the trailer is cringe inducing. As for me, the audience for this film is high school goth hogs who substitute trash bags for clothes. One look at the pictures on the blog proves my theory to be 100% truth.

as if this movie got a full release that those numbers would hold up. could a movie be any more sillier in story than this?

Just came back from the Pasadena screening that DLB and TZ intro'ed. F'ing brilliant a second time! I can't believe DLB is getting death threats! It's a freaking MOVIE, people! And it's a GOOD one! I was just really disappointed the audience didn't get the sticks out of their asses and SING ALONG. We need special "Repo!" singing party screenings or something. I wanted to SING, but I didn't want to be the only one!

Bloody-Disgusting -- You guys should re-edit your article. The movie made $3,250 per screen...On FRIDAY night only! That means for the weekend it could have over $9,000 per screen. That's even more amazing.

I've seen it, and it's a huge pile of shit. Darren deviated from the Saw formula only in his addition of musical numbers. It's still a poorly-directed, flashy billboard ad come to life. This guy needs to stop making movies.

It seems like this generation is desperately grasping onto something that is "their" Rocky Horror. Granted, I haven't seen the movie, but I can make safe presumption that it's an off-beat "horror" musical directed for a cult-following, a la "Rocky Horror Picture Show". For that reason alone, I won't be seeing it. Rocky Horror was overrated (still is)and it sounds like Repo is setting up to be the same. Personally, the only musical I enjoy is "Muppets take Manhattan". But to each is own, we all have our vices.

It hasn't even had a large release, where I live either.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut = ULTIMATE MUSICAL.
