Monday, November 3, 2008

Last last week we were supplied with five stills and a look at some art from GNAW (watch the trailer), which will be selling at this week's AFM in Santa Monica, CA. In this terrifying cross between TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and SAW, six friends vacation in the heart of the english countryside turns into a culinary nightmare when they discover that their hosts are a sadistic family of cannibals who are set on putting their guests on the menu.

My little sister thinks of more original ideas than this for her middle school English class stories. How does stuff like this even get released?

My God! This is the most original idea in years! Oscar buzz, anyone?

If I hear a pitch with "it's Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets..." one more time, I'm going to start making lampshades out of people!

Bitch, bitch, bitch. Oh no, another original horror movie i have not seen but am hating on for no reason what so ever. How lame. wish you guys were reporting on another awesome remake or a sequel to a dead and tired horror series. oh how originality sucks donkey balls.

Texican666: I'd take remakes and sequels over unoriginal rip-offs like this. At least remakes and sequels have better storylines that I haven't seen a hundred times.

Texican666

but your little sister is a creative genius jacques, of course you would like remakes and sequals. and there is nothing wrong with that, didnt you read what i wrote, OMG!

Texican666

to whom it may concern: reading between the lines is a skill set that is very underutilized by most people now a days. the point of my rant is this: 8 people are hating on this movie. show of hands, how many of you 8 have seen this movie? anyone, anyone. that's what i thought. someone who works for this website writes that the movie is a cross between saw and tcm, and everyone goes apeshit. homey was just trying to sum up the movie in terms horror fans can relate to, it is called a metaphor. if you are going to hate something on something, have a good reason. ps. conformists usually fear originality

I read what you wrote and you're wrong. Rip-offs like GNAW vs sequels? Give me sequels any day. Anyone else have an opinion on the matter?

Jacques

And it's a sad day when rip-offs are considered "original" just because they aren't sequels. Quite honestly, they ARE sequels, just with a different name. You don't have to watch a movie to judge it. I judged The Midnight Meat Train as a worthless, unoriginal, cheesy piece of trash. Then I watched it, and, you guessed it, it was exactly that. I don't give people the benefit of the doubt that something MAY be original before trashing it without seeing it: we live in 2008, America. Originality is dead. There's no reason to give benefits of the doubt anymore.

"I judged The Midnight Meat Train as a worthless, unoriginal, cheesy piece of trash." You are definitely a tweener. I saw MMT at the dollar movies, like a true horror fan, and gave bought 10 extra tickets after seeing it. didn't see it ten times, but i wanted to support an awesome, original horror movie. Jacques, go blog on myspace with other tweeners, and then go see Twilight with the rest of your lemming generation. Anyone else love Midnight Meat Train?

Jacque, sorry for ragging on you, but dont knock a great movie to try to make a point. I doubt many will agree with your thoughts on Midnight Meat Train.

so i read all of your fighting over whether this movie will suck or not...personally i don't really hate a movie until i watch it and decide after....i just watched the trailer and it looks like nothing new, but it doesn't look bad....if you guys wanna talk about crappy movies let's bash "molly hartley" and everyone who tricked people in to watching such trash...i want my money and time back, now!!!...can't wait for friday the thirteenth

No need to give this movie the benefit of a doubt. We've seen teens being tortured and eaten plenty of times. This movie won't be good mostly because it's UNoriginal. I don't know what that one guy's thinking saying that this is an original movie, but this is a lame attempt at cashing in on the torture genre. It will be considered sucky just because of this.

ehhh doesn't really look like anything new and I hate the fuzzy camera scenery, it's annoying...

As long as its a new horror movie!

I'm not going to bash it, but it looks just like a rehash of Hostel/Saw, and while I've loved horror movies for 30 years (I'm 39 btw), don't particularly care for "torture porn", or people just being tortured, or however you want put it. I would much rather watch this other new one that I saw the trailer for on here, "Laid To rest".

I got to see this movie today. The death scenes don't stand out & some are off screen. This film was not original, bad script & just a waste of time.1/5 Skulls
