We learned that this Monday in Glendale, CA Warner Bros. Pictures will be test screening Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat (review). The last time the film was tested was back in July of 2007 before the film was removed from its October 6th release. The reason for the latest screening is still unknown, but we're hoping that the rash of positive reviews and buzz has finally lit a fire under WB's arse. Hearing that the DVD won't come out until October 2008 was nauseating. This Halloween gem deserves better. Watch this spot for more soon.
This is great news and it gives me slight hope for the state of the genre. I'm really wanting more original stories to get released. I think I blame it on the economy--in times of economic crisis, people with money (in this case, producers) are less willing to take a risk and release something new that no one's heard of. It's not that great films aren't being made, they're just not being given a chance. I drove for an hour to see Midnight Meat Train (and loved it), and I was fortunate enough to get a chance to catch Repo! at Fantasticfest. It was so good I saw it twice.
I think they're considering a theatrical release again. Why test a DVD release? I like hearing this after the small buzz Trick R Treat got recently with the screening at Screamfest...Atleast we know they haven't forgotten us!!! Hell, they might wanna release around the Bloody Valentine and Friday the 13th releases to cash in while horror's hot...
Just freaking release it already. I will take DVD if that is all I can get. I would prefer to see it on a big screen..but at this point, I just want to see it!
I'd be willing to wait a bit longer to see it in theaters. It looks like it'd be a great atmosphere movie, one that you can get hyped up over with a big group of people around you.
I'm sure you guys have seen that list of the Top 10 Times in History When the F Word Was Appropiate. Now, its the Top 11. When the FUCK is this film going to be released? And fuck you Warner Brothers. You guys are making Lionsgate look good with all you're screwing around with this film.
Just came from the screening. Holy SH*T, it was AMAZING!!! :D
So many homages to horror movies in a movie that will probably become a horror movie classic itself. "Re-Animator" references FTW!!! :D
Unfortunately, the audience was kind of quiet, but I totally loved it. Here's hoping it gets the notice it truly deserves!
wtf....they're still doing SCREENINGS?!?!? As in they may consider recutting the film or altering the marketing/distribution plan?!!?!? Release it already, sometime before 2009 please!!!
I had this dream last night that I went into Warner Brothers and showed the execs pictures of myself having sex with their wives. Now give us Trick R' Treat you be-otches!!!!
man this movie must be released
rotten tomatoes gave it a good rating and hey don't give any good movie a good rating
