The cult classic horror film MY BLOODY VALENTINE gets special treatment when it returns to DVD from Lionsgate. A terrifying tale about a small town that faces horrifying consequences for holding a holiday dance on the anniversary of a deadly tragedy, MY BLOODY VALENTINE: Special Edition features all-new bonus features including never-before-seen lost footage, a featurette examining the back history of the making of the film and the Ultimate Slasher interactive guide that allows the user to delve into the evolution of the slasher film/horror genre. The DVD will be available coinciding with Lionsgate's theatrical 3-D remake of the film arriving in theaters January 16, 2009. My Bloody Valentine 3-D, stars Jaime King (upcoming The Spirit, Sin City), Jensen Ackles (TV's "Supernatural") and Kerr Smith (Final Destination, TV's "Dawson's Creek") and is directed by Patrick Lussier.

On Valentine's Day 20 years before, an explosion of methane gas took the lives of a group of coal miners working in the Hanniger Mine near the small town of Valentine Bluffs. The accident occurred because supervisors left their posts to attend the annual Valentine's Day dance. A year later, Harry Warden, the only survivor of the accident, retaliated by killing the two supervisors and leaving a terrifying warning never to hold another Valentine's Day dance. After two decades have passed, despite warnings, a group of young adults start preparations for another dance. When a blood-soaked heart arrives at the police station, accompanied by an ominous message, the dance is canceled. However, a Valentine party is held in its place at the coal mine and it isn't long before people begin dying violently. It appears Warden has returned to punish those who did not heed his warning.

We FINALLY get the lost footage?! That's awesome!! I wish it was IN the cut of the film, but it sounds like it'll be in the deleted scenes. I'm sure someone out there will make a fan-edit... *wink wink*

If this isn't the uncut version of the film, count me out. Why include the cut scenes as extras and not in the actual cut?

How fucking difficult is it to add the cut scenes into the movie?

I think this release is really worthless if it isnt the uncut version. Hell, the producer wanted so much to release the uncut version and lose all connection with Paramount well he got what he wanted by getting rid of Paramount but now he is gonna release the version of the film that we already have which is the rated 'R' version and put some so called "lost footage" as a special feature. I dont think so! How hard is it to put the scenes back in the movie?! C'MON! It just makes the producer seem like such a hypocrite. He might not have had anything to do with this release but he does know about it, I know he does because there is no way he could not know anything about it so it makes him even more of a hypocrite knowing about it and not wanting to put the uncut version out. I will NOT buy this unless something changes between now and then when it comes out.

Moisture! still better than the shitty Paramount barebones disc.

It's about damned time. If the footage isn't intergrated back into the film I'd be upset, but I can always edit it back in which is always fun.

People are so fucking ungrateful. Lionsgate got the distribution rights to the original, included the missing footage (even as a bonus feature, that rocks) and are throwing in some new featurettes and releasing it for us. That's FAR more than Paramount ever did for this flick. Besides, if the missing footage isn't inserted into the film, there are probably certain rights issues as to why it's like that. Film is complicated. If every movie company out there tried to please the horror fans like yo want them to, most would end up going out of business. IF you don't want to get this movie and see the missing footage, then don't, but quit your fuckin bitching. Jesus Christ.

I'm just excited to see that missing stuff. For too long, I've had to imagine what it was. Now, I'll finally get to see it. Thank you, Lionsgate. Once again, you prove that you're the best horror distributor out there.

so is the cut footage in the movie or just available in the bonus features? I heard somewhere that the "lost footage" being put on the special edition is not even half of the cut footage. and while lionsgate does release the best theatrical horror movies in the US, their DTV slates are absolutely fucking horrendous.

Amen jmacgrath. Now if someone would just re-release Happy Birthday to Me with the original soundtrack and a less tacky and more appropriate cover art as well as the underrated and lost gem Curtains, my horror collection would be complete :-)
