The boys over at Twitch Film are getting us excited once again, this time for what they call "the next wave of French horror." What they're referring to is a new film by Franck Richard entitled The Pack (La Meute), which stars Philippe Nahon (Irreversible, Brotherhood of the Wolf) and Yolande Moreau (The Last Mistress, Amelie). What's the juice on the film? Read on to see what it's all about.

In the middle of a snowy no man’s land, Charlotte picks up Max, a hitchhiker; they stop in a truck-stop restaurant, and when Max doesn’t come back from the bathroom, Charlotte starts looking for him in vain. She decides to return during the night but gets kidnapped by the bartender, La Spack, who turns out to be Max’s mother and needs to feed her kids, « The pack », a bunch of blood lusting ghouls. Charlotte now faces a terrifying reality: these ghouls are already dead… and hungry. Alone and in the middle of nowhere, she quickly realizes… she’s next on the menu.

What do you guys think?

Sounds like its got potentional, although the whole zombie thing is getting a little old. It does have the factor that all good French horror films must have though, and that is Phillipe Nahon!

I am French and I have never heard something about this project. ^^

Sound a little Frontiere(s)-ish to anyone else? (no, obviously they are not Nazis in this, but aside from that...)

this DOES sound a little bit like 'Frontiers' but that's just fine w/ me. ALL the French horror films to come out in the last couple of years i've LOVE (and own on DVD), i can't wait to see (and own) MARTYRS. i think the storyline (and the fact that it'll be a French horror movie) sounds AWESOME! i agree w/ Mortis45, Phillipe Nohan (the "killer" HIGH TENSION) is a TOTAL plus!

It sounds like it could work. From the title I was thinking it might be a werewolf feature ("The Pack") which wouldn't have disappointed me. I'm not a big werewolf fan, but on;y because there really hasn't been anything wort howling at in years!

I'm confused as to how one movie can be the next "wave" of a genre, though.

I'm tired of serial killers and crazy cannibalistic families. I couldn't enjoy Frontier(s) because I've seen it all before. Bring on more undead ghouls!

Hopefully the movie can live up to that sweet ass poster.

Sounds like the same old story.

We are controlled by a system that only succeeds in alienating its very own members through a basic selection process previously defined by Darwin, evolving and essentially regressing within a society completely devoid of spirituality, imagination, creativity and spontaneity. VIVE LA FRANCE!!!

I am still waiting patiently to see Martyrs. After that I can start thinking about The Pack. And since the Martyrs website is only in fucking French (which I can't read), I'm not even sure when I will be able to see that one. Hell, if I could read and speak French I wouldn't even be here right now - I'd be some big honcho corporate translator or some shit like that. :)

I prefer French New Wave without supernatural elements, but I have high hopes for this genre splitter.

coldblood, i'm w/ you! i fucking can't wait for MARTYRS!!!!

The 1980s called. They said campy horror movies are theirs and they're filing a lawsuit. Good luck.

Sounds pretty damn good to me, anything but a remake or stupid sequel. Besides we all know how twisted are french directors. Sweet poster btw.

this film has got some badass actors and actresses in it and could be another of those NWFH (new wave french horror) films, but who knows? I loved Inside, Frontier(s), High Tension, Them....so maybe this will be awesome...at least its not another remake...something different.

They lost me at "Charlotte picks up Max, a hitchhiker".. believability is the most important thing in this type of a film, please don't go insulting the audience now.

I'm with runbitch!...maybe in whatever country this takes place in a woman driving alone would pick up a male hitchhiker, but certainly not likely in the States. Can you say death/rape/robbed wish? And this guy's apparently normal looking but has ghoules for siblings??? Ok...

Sounds like the vanishing (I like the french version better) and then they added that dumb she comes back bullshit- and it's a trap they set for her. Yawn....

oh come on. Your complaining about the hitchhiker and not the zombies? It's actually possible to pick up a hitchhiker, but I'd love to see you show me a ghoul.
