We learned of some interesting news this evening as we were tipped off that Ian Jeffers, who wrote both James Wans' drama-thriller DEATH SENTENCE and Sylvain White's upcoming adaptation of CASTLEVANIA, has sold an original script to legendary director-produce Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner). Here's the juicy tid-bit... apparently the film is a werewolf project! No other details were revealed, but it sounds like we might have something pretty huge to look forward to in the coming years.
YEAH! See, this is what I was talking about. There hasn't been anything out in recent years that would constitute a serious scare the hell out of you and make you fear dogs the rest of your life werewolf movie. Hopefully it won't get overrun by CGI and ruined, but with Ridley Scott on board it HAS to be good!
Of all the genres, this one's still up for grabs. Sure there's been a few "close but no cigar" efforts, THE HOWLING, A.W.I.L but no one's nailed the ultimate / definite Werewolf movie. The Universal Chaney production is standing in the gap for the meantime but I wouldn't be so quick to automatically connect R. SCOTT with being able to pull it off (look at HANNIBAL after all.) A young, hungry ALIEN era Scott sure but now...? Marcus Nispel or even (if he could ever be convinced) ROMAN POLANSKI .. I know, I know but just think about an "in form" POLANSKI with CGI at his disposal making a werewolf flick ... make my mouth water,; or for that matter how about HERTZOG!
