Lionsgate is putting a little retro spin into their brand new one sheet for My Bloody Valentine 3D, which can be viewed beyond the break. The new poster boasts a crowd watching the movie in 3-D with a tagline "Nothing says 'date movie' like a 3D ride to hell!" flashing across. Read on for a look and let us know what you think... In the Patrick Lussier directed remake arriving in theaters January 16, Tom (Jensen Ackles) returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the life of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders.
the ONLY good thing i can glean from this poster is that at least LIONSGATE studios is starting to promote the film. LG screwed over a bunch of their latest horror films by either having them go STRAIGHT to DVD, or they dumped them in 100 dollar cinema's (Repo! The Genetic Opera, Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train, The Burrowers).
I think most of you are missing the point here. It isn't like Lionsgate is going to scrap the more horror-oriented poster we saw earlier and use this image exclusively to sell the film. Both posters will be used, to broaden the appeal of the film to a wider audience. Sheesh!
Crazy. This poster is almost perfect. I think if they had just done something a little extra with the title font--something to give it more of a horror edge--then it would have been amazing.
Other than the title, it tells us nothing about the movie. Atleast make it look mature, shit. Looks like an advertisement for a 3D movie ride at a children's amusement park...I believe under-17's all over America will be pissed when they find out it isn't PG...
Let's hope the 3-D will be worth it. I'm not sure why this movie needs it, but I will give a chance. Love the original. It came out when the slasher genre was really getting started and was really good right there with the original Friday, Terror Train, Prom night, Happy Birthday to me, etc. Thank you John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN.
You know what I love about this? I love that the giant pick is heading right for that guy's jewels. No wonder he looks so freaked - he didn't go to the movies for a sex-change operation! Truly terrifying!
Jonny horror and Djblack, i think you both mean "Thank you Mario Bava and Twitch of the Death Nerve (Bay of Blood)"
Latina babe has a point with Psycho but it ain't really a slasher. Bay of Blood is regarded as the first true "body count" slasher. And you can see how Black Christmas and Friday the 13th were inspired by it.. Either way, all great movies...
As for this remake.... I love the original and i hope this remake actually pushes producers to FINALLY release the uncensored version of the original My Bloody Valentine... Aside from that, i'll give this one a shot... It can't be worse than the prom night remake, can it??
GMLeviathan, i LOVE Bava films! they are so underrated and underappreciated (the FRIDAY the 13th films especially are "inspired" *cough* from them, especially BAY OF BLOOD). Friday part 2 seems especially (in kills) inspired by Bay of Blood ( the machete in the face, the double impalement etc).
This poster is garbage. What does it have to do with the film? The hell with the trying to cater to the masses aka 'sheep'. Keep it all 'Horror' dagnabbit.
Thank you GMLeviathan and djblack for the facts and giving credit where credit is due. I agree 1000% that Bava's films are underrated.
Of course PSYCHO and BLACK CHRISTMAS are influential and great points to make.BAVA and you could say ARGENTO as well. My whole point was HALLOWEEN was the film that really ushered in the slasher genre after it was such a surprise hit in 1978. Just look how many films were made between '79 and '86. MY BLOODY VALENTINE being one of them was the point of my reference.
to me. It looks like some Nickalodeon child stars are pretending to watch a documentary about dinosaurs only with a large pickaxe flying out of nowhere for no apparent reason. It's a pretty horrible poster.
It looks like the poster from Journey To The Center Of What The Fuck Are They Thinking? Shitcan this and bring back the other one!
