Hmmm, let's see now. Their talking about Seth so i'm assuming the clip with the pendulum trap resulted in Seth's death. Seemingly because he murdered somebody very dear to Hoffman. So he took payback. It also seems that what he did to Seth occured before he was recruited to become Jigsaw's new apprentice thus occuring before Saw III & Saw IV. So here we have a rather revealing insight into what made Hoffman become the new apprentice. Jigsaw is testing him. Could turn out to be a Zep story, Jigsaw must be holding some kind of collateral to keep Hoffman in the game, this leads me to believe that there is another player, somebody entrusted by Jigsaw, to keep an eye on Hoffman. Maybe it IS Detective Tapp after all, or maybe it's Jill. Soething about her didn't quie sit right with me in Saw IV. She had a very cold attitude towards Strahm. ok, i'm the first to admit that i'm not up on all my SAW facts, but i STILL think the Julie Benz character is shifty in this. i think she's in on the traps or something.

Oh wait, it's just occured to me. Look at Jigsaw, does he seem ill to any of you???? Since the series began, we have seen Jigsaw all sickly and such. Here he is a picture of health........I get the distinct impression that this is even before Saw. Could that be the big twist? That Hoffman was in it since the beginning? I was right when i said Hoffman was the new apprentice after watching Saw III, maybe i am now. Either way, i can't wait to see this.............xoxoxox

OK, so this is what us nutters from HOJ have denotated, these events happen post saw 1 as jigsaw has most of his hair & is hardly ill at all as seen in his saw 4 flashbacks Hoffman was a copycat that killed seth with Johns alias so he would take the fall Hoffman messed around with the trap to make it unwinnable Seth Killed some one close to hoffman (sisters, mother daughter) he says "SHE was my only family.."

I love how jigsaw is so cold and calculating of course this is pre-saw 1 probably his second test he's given anyone that he ran on anyone but unlike the first he was able to get an ally out of it and did this in person like he did with this first. but from there on out Hoffman probably helped him grow with his mission at the same time trained Hoffman not to kill. but to If you listen to his voice he sounds ill like he just got down with chemotherapy and puked up his lunch. of course this is a flash back but this might be even right before Amanda's test even in saw one he was strong enough to the doctor in there especially up and down the stairs

I'll give it up to Marcus and Patrick. They need some redemption after the shitfest that was Feast 2. Unwatchable dung. And Hackl seems to be doing a fine job. I'll see it on Tuesday at the premiere. Heheheh.

Hello. I'm new to B&D forums, but as for a Saw fan, been that way since the beginning. Anyway I am curious if anyone else saw what I saw. Pun not intended. Freeze frame it again around 42 seconds. Same thing for 43 seconds. Look at the drill type machine in the background to the left behind Jigsaw's head. Do you guys think this is the same drill on the unnamed person that was shot off by the Detective in the first Saw movie? If so, then that for sure verifies the theory that this scene we are watching does take place Pre-Saw. What do you guys think? CLMike

This is one of the main reasons why I like SAW: I love theese chilly moments and sweet dialogues with Jigsaw. Can't wait to see the movie!

If you look behind Hoffmans head you can see the original Billy doll Johnmade out of wood for Jill, this was seen in Saw 4 Before John started testing people.

Do any of you think the end of Saw V will be the beginning of the first Saw? That's what I'm thinking. "You won't believe how it ends" seems like a good tagline for an ending like that. Or maybe everybody (and I mean everybody as in every single character that's in Saw V) just dies lol. That would be quite an ending.

Each new clip from this film gets me more stoked for it. I'll leave the speculation to others, since SAW hypothesizing can leave your head spinning. Suffice it to say, the two traps we've seen and the scene posted here make this look like the most promising entry yet.

i'm a huge fan of the Saw series and and i personally will be extremely pissed if the twist is another time twist. i want to see what happens AFTER the fucking autopsy.

i said from day one (not on here) that saw 4 was wrote the way it was for a reason and that it couldnt completely be judged until seeing saw 5 and by watching this i think i was right. let the saw haters who want to watch a mindless killer wander through the woods and hack naked chicks or dead japanese kids scaring people in closets complain all they want. saw 5 is looking good.

I think this scene is strictly about Hoffman being punished by Jigsaw because he kills Seth even though he completes his tak as seen in the clip. So John puts him in a trap to make him realize the seriousness of his "games". Also he would have done same for Amanda, but he was too sick...instead he wrote a letter. This is infact pre-saw but not the original "be my apprentice" lecture. what do you think?

I saw the movie already. I can tell you guys that every scene is part of some scenes from SAW 4 and SAW 3. There were "holes" in the previous movies. David Hackl explained more in details in SAW 5. All of you need to see it. It is an awesome movie.
