Pamela Voorhees and Little Jason Cut From 'Friday' Remake
Friday, October 17, 2008

There are rumors circulating on the web (one such place here) that Pamela Voorhees (played by Nana Visitor) has been cut from New Line Cinema's Friday the 13th. We have confirmed that not only has Pamela been cut from the film, but so has little Jason Voorhees (played by Caleb Guss). The news comes after a recent test screening in Long Beach, California where a handful of lucky horror fiends got to see Jason's new destruction. Obviously, this was a "test screening" so it's quite possible they could both reappear in the final cut of the film on February 13, 2009.

I'm sure they'll make it in on the DVD in or way or another.

WHAT?!?!?! I'm done. Sorry, I'm out. No more faith or interest in the film. If this is supposed to be a re-imagining of Friday the 13th, you can't do it without Jason's backstory. This is just going to be a kill-the-horny-teengaers shitfest.

This is not good news! Justin, I agree. How the hell can you remake this film without the backstory???? It is the whole premise of this film and Jason's rage! Why would he seek revenge on the camp counselors if he didn't witness his mothers murder? What the hell is going on here? Damn! I want this to be great, not another crappy remake! What's next? Changing the rating to PG13??????

The question is, how old were these "lucky fiends" group? They were probably 18 to 25 years old with little to none horror viewing experience and more of a popcorn action psyche. They just want to see some guy in a hockey mask hack his way through the high school yearbook instead of knowing the back story.

So you were all going to go see this movie just to see a 30 second clip of Mrs. Voorhees and little Jason. You're all retarded. They sum up that back story in a campfire tale and we all know what happened. Watch for it in the DVD release, but it doesn't NEED to be in the final version of the remake. It's a a remake to the sequels, not the origianl. This is only a test screening anyway, not the final version. Quit bitching. I'm 25 years old with plenty of Horror viewing experience. So please, keep those comments for the 12 year olds.

well this sucks! its bad enough that none of the orignal cast is coming back (no andrea barbeau, betsy palmer, to name a few). oh id love to see the backstory now.........i agree w/ u dblock st7dust and justin....it prob. will be changed to pg13 our luck bc of the bloood will be to ooo so violent!

it does seem to be true which sucks. i was SO excited to see an updated version of MRS. V's decap scene. over at IMDB (on the Friday 2009 page) there's an entire list of the deaths in case anyone's interested.

djblack1313

horrorchick81, there is no "Andrea Barbeau" in the FRIDAY movies. and read the death list over in the FRIDAY 2009 board, there's NO WAY this will be rated PG-13. the deaths are pretty brutal.

djblack1313

disanti, that's a good point. this was just a test screening, so maybe they will put the Mrs. V scene back in.

I am a HORROR movie!!!

What the fuck? That sucks...

2:49pm, October 17, 2008

what did you expect really, I was telling people this was crap from day one! All your going to get is Scream reimagined with a hockey mask. Who needs character developement and back story and motivation? Boobs and blood will do just fine right? May as well be Hatchet 2....

"This is just going to be a kill-the-horny-teengaers shitfest." -- This could be describing any of the 'Friday' films. You might be able to narrow things down by ending that comment with "...in 3D", "...on a boat" or "...on a spaceship", but they're all "kill-the-horny-teenagers shitfests" at heart. They're not exactly character-driven movies with well-written plots, are they? FWIW, I'm not knocking the series - by-and-large, they're entertaining kill-the-horny-teenager shitfests with an iconic slasher antagonist, IMO.

to the makers of this FRIDAY THE 13th 2009, PLEASE KEEP MRS. Vorhees' SCENES IN THE MOVIE!!!! it's VERY clear most of us REALLY want these scenes in this film. why do the producers think people can't sit through an 1hour and 45 minute movie (or even a 2 hour movie)? if it was that long, there would be NO reason/need to cut these character-ish development scenes.

Horrorfan83
3:46pm, October 17, 2008

Let the bitching begin. You guys need to just shut the hell up and see the movie. This is not 100% true. Its a rumor. I want to see this from a official sorce. Not the idiots who start shit on the internet because they have no fucking lifes. This movie is going to rule. Anyone who thinks different can go screw.

Horrorfan83
3:48pm, October 17, 2008

Hey korollocke. What you have been saying since day 1 is total shit. Stop acting like you know everything when you dont.

The_Bark
3:51pm, October 17, 2008

test screenings are one way of proving the filmmakers have no idea as to what they're doing. If they did, they wouldn't need to test screen. Plain and simple.

harrycaul
3:54pm, October 17, 2008

i don't understand why this is a remake then. they should have aimed for another sequel. it would sit better with the fans and they wouldn't even have to bother with the origin story.

Haha, you're putting all your stock into a couple geeks over at f-13 films forum who claim they saw a screening? Hahaha. I'll wait for my own eyes to see the film before I judge it...

Fridaythe13th
4:39pm, October 17, 2008

The_Bark, test screening don't mean filmmakers don't know what they are doing. It helps them get an outside perspective, instead of people who have been involved since day 1. They can really get a sense as to what works and what doesn't... makes the final movie flow better. JUST RUMORS EVERYONE!

Now why in the world would the backstory be cut? That's just dumb,Thoses assholes have better not fuck this up! They need to put the backstory back into this movie and show little jason and mrs.voorhees for the whole world to see.

This will make it on the dvd bonus features.

zombieslasher13

We've never seen any interaction between mother and son in the Friday movies. I was hoping we'd see them together in a scene and get some backstory of jason's life especially what about jason's father. Hopefully they put these scenes back in the movie or at least on the dvd or director's cut or something.

djblack1313
5:33pm, October 17, 2008

Fuller in interviews said that they had like over 2 hours (or something) of a film. they wanted to cut it down to (i think he said) 90-ish minutes or so. so that means we'll get a GREAT DVD! but i still want the Mrs. V scene in this movie. and the death list over at IMDB sounds spot on. i don't think it's a fake. the person posted a pic of the invite for the test screening.

Ugh. I really wanted to see Pamela and Young Jason. At least it's supposed to be good. Favorite quote from that link: I don't unnerve easy. There were quite a few parts that made me jump, and actually a scene at the beginning that was pretty gruesome that I just remembered (SPOLIER). My girlfriend, who usually scares pretty easy, had to leave the theatre for about ten minutes and go to the bathroom to calm her nerves. She's never had to do that and we have seen probably 75% of the horror movies in the last year and a half
