During an interview with the Sunday Sun, writer-director-producer Paul W.S. Anderson confirmed that not only will a fourth RESIDENT EVIL grace the big screen, but also that he'll be penning the sequel. "I’m writing an adaptation of the LONG GOOD FRIDAY right now, set in present-day Miami. Then I will probably write Resident Evil 4." It's great to hear that the franchise is continuing, but sad to hear that Anderson continue to be so involved. Thankfully he'll be too busy shooting FRIDAY, so expect someone else behind the camera when Alice (or maybe Jill Valentine?) continue to battle the Umbrella Corp.
Someone stop this man from making movies....the resident evil series could have been so much better if PWSA wasn't just shitting out horrible plot lines.

You are aware that Mr Anderson did not direct the second and third one right?So what make you think him not directing the 4th one would make any difference?The real concern would be if the 4th movie is based on RE4 and a sequel to the last RE movie.The 4th movie will probably have nothing to do with RE4 the game and as the movies have been going no one really should expect it to be base on the RE4 game.Those who do,what in the world would make you think it would so far?
I don't see how Anderson would make a differnce since parts 2 and 3, neither of which he directed, were worse than the original film he helmed. This isn't "good news" at all in my book, I hate this series.

I can see it now. This is how it will go: Starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, Milla Jovovich as Alice's clones 1-500, and Ali Larter. MILLA JOVOVICH IS RESIDENT EVIL!!! And then it will show Alice killing Wesker in a "heroic" battle, and then her clones get naked and start dancing. and then they show Claire and everyone else dying. Alice will be the ONLY thing left to kill all the zombies, and then cut to then ending title, and then "RE5 coming soon. Alice fights zombies again...again"
Okay, I know the movies aren't great but Milla is the only reason I watch them! She's fucking incredible in the movies and I love how she puts everything into it which is more than could be said for some people! As long as she's in it, I will see it!
Nah, fuck all that, they should ask Christophe Gans if he is available to continue the series. He would combine the aesthetics of his tightly-choreographed action sequences with the ghoulish obscurity of Silent Hill. Then, of course, the zombies would become scary again - a big flaw in this franchise.
I thought they would have removed him from the RE franchise by now. The damage has been done so I suppose the next one can't get any worse. Also, and this obviously isn't horror, is his adaption of the Long Good Friday based on the original Bob Hoskins film? I hope to god that it isn't. Just when I thought my expectations of Paul couldn't get much lower, he dares to remake that classic. And in Miami no less. The only positive part of shitty remakes is that they can't write over the originals.

I've never seen the movies as having a relation to the games. To me the first two were entertaining action movies, Extinction should be... extinct. And as for Paul Anderson, he made Event Horizon which I personally enjoyed. If they're making RE4, I seriously hope they dump Milla Jovovich and everyone from Extinction. There's no way that is ever going to turn out good... unless of course the Alice clones turn into zombies and there'd be an army of naked Milla Jovovich zombies... Other than that, I hope they at least will try to make a scary RE movie this time.
Mass Hysteria, that WOULD be cool to have GANS take over the franchise! he would truly make it a scary experience (i LOVE Silent Hill). i LOVE these movies but does Anderson have a clause in each RES EVIL movie he does that says ONLY he will write the next RES EVIL movie?
This is bullshit news. They just need to make this 4th movie based on the RE4 game. Or even the first game. If they had just followed the games in the first place these movies wouldnt be some cheesy gaylord action flicks. No one gives a shit about Alice. They need to kill her off and reboot this franchise.
Yah this is terrible news. Where else is there to go with this dumb series? The last movie had the whole world be decimated and it's now a wasteland, so what else is there to do? I'm guessing more things that have nothing at all to do with Resident Evil. I'm confused how we ended up with Milla Jovovich holding her dead naked clone at the end of the last movie based on the material from the RE games. Anderson is a terrible writer and basically just creates garbage instead of basing it on what's already been established.
I was unsatisfied with the end of part 3 and allthough the Resident Evil Movie Franchise doesn't exsactly blow me away I still want to know what happens. The worst thing that could actually happen is Paul Anderson writting this movie, which sucks bigtime now. He could try and SAVE the franchise, but he mutated the story so much, that I don't believe in really cool story. too bad.
A Resident Evil movie is like a Little Caesar's peperoni pizza. There's only a few good meaty bits, and the rest is filler with a lot of CHEESE...yet I still enjoy it and eat it up. ;)
ok, having i never seen any of these but whenever i read stuff on here and on other sites awhile ago i thought that they were either doing a spinoff or having the fourth one only based on ali larters charecter and someone elses? (cant think of his name on the top of my head right now?), plus thought mila would be kinda tired of doing these bc aint she signed on to do another video game turned movie????
UGH! This is a tragedy! Somebody needs to stop this man! He already ruined what could have been a fantastic series. What made the games so good was the mystery behind Umbrella Corp. Not just running around and killing zombies with super-duper powers.
No, no, no...because the moment they add more characters from the game, then people will start crying about how the movie version's are too different from their game counterparts, or so and so was an awful casting choice for that game character etc. Trust me, it will happen. It's better to keep the characters separate with a few cameo's thrown in for good measure. As long as they have the central theme of the Umbrella Co. and their mutant creating viruses, then you still have the basic Resident Evil concept up until Resident Evil 4.
maybe when they are making this movie there will be a horrible set fire and PWSA will die in it. we can only dream.....
