New Path For Dimension's 'The Road'

Some Disappointing news via THR as it looks like Dimension Films' The Road might be heading down a new path. The Viggo Mortensen dark thriller was originally set for a November 14 limited and November 26 wide release. Now it quietly has been shifted until at least December -- and might be moved out of 2008 altogether. Execs are scheduled to meet with "Road's" producers Thursday to discuss whether the movie will bow this year. The film is based on Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic tale about a man and his son wandering a bleak landscape. It has been noted as a possible Oscar contender.

I agree (with less "o"s, but I still agree). After hearing about the book and movie, and then reading the book- without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read -this became my must see movie. Anyword on why the release change, Mr. D? And if any of you haven't read this book do so before you see the movie. sounds like you have time now.

There was a screening in NY last night and a friend who saw it said it was pretty damn good. This news is disappointing.

I'm also very disappointed! The book was and is amazing. I had to read it at work every day because I couldn't put it down. UGGGGHHHH. I was anticipating this soooo much!

I hated the book, it rambled on and on, with no direction. and it just ended. if it was by some scrub author no one would ever have made that pile of garbage into a movie.

foghorne: It just ended? There was a definate conclusion. And to say it rambled on and on is a bit harsh... While it wasn't exactly an action packed end-of-the-world story there was much that did happen. Also, it was a character study, showed the bond and relationship of two characters. This book was much more satisfying then most of it's kind.

there was no conclusion. it was just over. the road never ends, kid just goes on and on. I am no idiot and I can get into character studies and all that but that book put me to sleep, I couldnt wait for it to end. I dont want to ruin the ending for anyone who hasnt read it yet but it was lame. I read it after finishing no country and that book was great, so I was very let down.

Any news about this film gets me geeked because I recently met the film's lead villian, actress Brenna Roth, who plays the Cannibal Leader in the film. I also have a pic of she and I together but I knew something was up because.....Where are the trailers for the film?
