Last Friday lucky fans in Hollywood got to check out Warner Bros. Pictures' Trick 'r Treat (review), which has been sitting on the shelf for nearly a year and a half (what the eff?) undeservingly. This morning we woke up to nearly a dozen new stills from the film, all of which can be found inside. The October is pretty nuts as we've already seen toys, books and Halloween masks based on characters from Michael Dougherty's horror anthology - and yet, there's no movie to be found. In short, this sucks. Hopefully everyone will finally get to see this soon.
So pissed. I bought Fantastic Fest 2007 tickets to see this, only to find out it had been pulled due to a release delay...Pissed doesn't begin to describe my feelings toward WB.
The biggest mistake WB made was to NOT let it be released when they ORIGINALLY wanted it to be released(around Halloween years back. The whole, "Let's release it in April" idea was stupid as releasing a Christmas movie in May.
This is an endless disappointment. I had some friends who caught it at Butt-Numb-A-Thon last year in Austin, and even the ones that don't like horror movies said it was creepy as hell and a lot of fun.
the release of these pix (as well as ALL the other info/stories/interviews/etc) regarding this movie is simply torture. (not by you BD, i'm referring to WB). i mean get off the fucking pot and release this movie already!!!!! WTF!? i'm dying to see it (as are most horror fans), so let us see it. this has been finished/completed what, like, 5 years ago?
The worst part about the wait is that WB in there wisdom decided to put a trailer for trick r treat at the beginning of select movies that were coming out around the year and a half ago time frame when the film was suppose to come out.I still get asked at my job if this movie has come out yet. I would even settle for a direct to DVD release at this point.I just want to see it, even though I would perfer a national theater run for it.
i hope it leaks soon and we all can see it. i don't care about "well it's not the PC or responsible thing to download or watch movies off torrent sites or whatever". FUCK THAT reasoning. it literally has been year(s) since this movie was finished. WB doesn't have the balls to release it, so, fuck 'em.
Right on- this movie has to come out. Right in time for Halloween. Give us horror fans a break from the f*ckin Saw franchise (which i do love by the way). I just think the horror fans deserve some variety in their theatrical releases.
this (just going by the stills) is one of the most gorgeous looking movies. each still is like a work of stunning art. or is it just me thinking that! LOL. i can't wait (assuming WB get's their act together and DOES release it).
This movie looks like a throwback to the old anthologies for the 70s and 80s, which is ALWAYS a good thing. Movies like Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt(70s) and Twilight Zone: The Movie, are AWESOME!!! This looks to be a breath of fresh air from all the modern horror movies and remakes around. I mean, look, there's ACTUALLY KIDS in this freakin MOVIE!! It seemed to become a stigma that kids dying in horror was a no-no, especially during the 90s. Pre-90s, seriously, they weren't afraid to kill kids off!!
Two reasons this movie has not come out: #1 -This movie will not be the "safe bet" cash cow that horror movies are supposed to be, and WB is probably trying to figure out how to market it. (Hence all the test screenings and festival tour.) Horror fans are a sure thing but we are a minority. Will Joe-Six-Pack line up to see this new, different, no-star, non-franchise film? Or more likely reason #2 - the long writers strike threw a wrench in the movie making process. The effects on TV were immediate, but for films the effects would not be felt over a year later. There are not enough movies in the pipeline for next year, so movie releases will be rationed. (Read up in Entertainment Weekly about the writers strike.)
fuck.
not that i don't appreciate the new images, but we're going to have seen this whole film through pics and reviews;leaving nothing to be revealed by the time we actually see this damn movie..
Saw this at Screamfest on Friday.
It was good, really fun and enjoyable. Most of the stories were great, but I didn't much care for Anna Paquins(?) story line. Aside from the (near)nudity, it was pretty boring and had a silly ending. But the little sack boy more than made up for it...
cool i love the pictures... sweet! i wih they would have released this in movie theares like how they were supposed to originally! cant stand the wb. i agree with ya dr. lommis and draven.
(what the eff?)? Are you really promoting such incredibly stupid internet speak into your articles? Bad enough almost every kid on the net talks in language that is not only made up of words that arent even real that they do it and think it makes them cool, could you not encourage them to sound like lazy stupid morons?
I'm dying to see this flick, hopefully it would get an international release as it has happened in the past with other movies. Fingers crossed for that!
You can get your Trick r Treat fix by buying the book. Go to Amazon to buy the book for a good price (even if you think the price is high, it's still worth every penny) and because they're reliable, that's where I purchased mine. Don't worry there's no major spoilers; however it leads the story up until the end. The end of each segment is not revealed, for some though that might be too much. I haven't read the book completely because like the rest of you, I'm waiting for the movie!

P.S. The stills shown here are from the photos in the book. And, the paper is non-acidic so sweaty little hands (like mine) from anticipation for the movie won't ruin this amazing book.
