We got the scoop from a few various sources that Bloody-Disgusting fav, Steven C. Miller, is in final talks to direct MGM's remake of Motel Hell. Miller first graced your computer screens when we were the first to review his independent zombie film AUTOMATON TRANSFUSION (now on DVD from Dimension Extreme), which was made for a measly $30,000 (I'm still in shock). No more details have been revealed, but we'll keep you posted. The classic 1980 horror comedy followed Farmer Vincent's famous sausage business run out of a hotel that snags unsuspecting tourists and harvests them to become tomorrow's smoky breakfast links.
fuck yeah! motel hell is one of my favorite horror movies of all time (along with phantasm, pumpkinhead, scarecrows) and I HOPE THEY DONT FUCK THIS MOVIE UP, it's a hit or miss movie based on the casting of farmer vincent if they dont cast this role properly the whole thing will fail.
and i didnt really like automaton transfusion but i still have high hopes for the motel hell remake. I still wish neca or mezco would release farmer vincent action figure (with alternate pig head, chainsaw)!!!!!
Heck Yeah! Its about damn time they had this kid do a film after Automaton. I saw it in San Francisco 2 years ago and have waited for Miller to do something since then. I just hope they get rid of the comedy aspect and have this be an old school horror film with some modern twists. I cant wait to see what he does with a real budget.
I agree with the first comment. The only good thing about Automation Transfusion was abhorrent. At least it's good to know hard work is rewarded in Hollywood!!!
ohhh my god i remember watching this when i was like 8 haha this was the most ridiculous movie, ill have to rewatch it and than form my opinion about the remake
It's a shame people fail to realize the almost zero budget the director had to work with for Automaton Transfusion and it still managed to blow a lot of other zombie films out of the water. I believe this director COULD make some truly killer films with the right amount of money.
automaton transfusion was total crap. and the director is an arrogant prick that is under the impression that it was good. motel hell is good. don't care about this remake or anything else this guy does.
Let me see if I can get this straight: You guys bitched and moaned when Vladim Perelmen, director of actual good movies, signed on to direct a remake of Poltergeist, yet you are excited that the direct of seriously one of the worst movies I have ever seen has signed on to direct a remake of Motel Hell? I swear, your DVD shelf at home must be filled with nothing but Hostel and Adam Sandler movies if you think this is good news.
Frogger, you made a valid arguement. I was wondering that very same thing. I know the remake craze has gotten out of hand, however, I'm excited for some of them. If they are done well, we can get our faves back and see a great show. I wish there were more original horror movies coming out, but right now we have to settle for what we get. Since I love this genre more than I really should, I will see all these movies anyway.

Frogger: Right on, you hit the nail on the head with that one.
This movie was was an epic classic, can they really recapture the glorified cheesiness that the original had back in the '80s? I doubt it. This movie is going to fail hard, but I will see it for myself just in hopes that I will be proven wrong.
It's impossible to remake a flick like this. All of those original elements are what provide it with it's charm. Unless you can reproduce those same small details, the remake (and all remakes) will not be able to match the original.
That statement though is left up to major remake debate, but im not looking to start that. Just mentioning Motel Hell.
...and I have not seen Automation Transfusion- though I'm having my doubts now.
I know Automaton Transfusion was not the glitzy polished film that for some reason we have come to expect from horror, but neither was the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I enjoyed Automaton Transfusion. It was an attempt to get original horror made. Hollywood is do dead set on making remake after remake, and we as fans complain and complain because there is nothing original. When something original does come out, it is dumped on because it doesn't look like the rest of the shit coming out of Hollywood. I don't get it.
I liked Automaton Transfusion, mostly on the fact that I like senseless gore and metal, but I am still glad they gave this project to someone who will b sure to give it an R rating. But I still hate all the remakes coming out now adays and this one probably won't change that.
I'm hoping for the best on this remake but like most horror fans I'm sick to fuckin death of them. Whatever happened to originality? Definitely not going to hold my breathe on this one though...Automaton Transfusion blows
Ah Protecious, I thought I was the only fan of the 80's terror trip "Scarecrows". Very under-rated fright flick. Motel Hell is another shining gem. The pig-mask chainsaw image is a staple of horror. Will the endless "Attack of the Re-makes" ever stop? There's some intelligent minds out there. Like Spielberg said "often, the best ideas are the simplest ones". Just give the public a basic, simple plot. Believable characters, & a believable environment. Stop trying to impress us with all the CGI candy, & give us something with a human element. Special effects & CGI without substance is the main problem with a lot of movies today. Get back to basics PLEASE!!!! "I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him & kill him for ten"-----Jaws.
Automaton Transfusion was god awful. The whole freakin' movie was ADR!! It's easy to say we shouldn't complain about remakes when we bash indie originals, but if a film based on an "original" idea sucks why ignore that? Motel Hell is awesome, and this dude is lucky he gets to remake it.
why remake it at all? it wasn't tte greatest movie ever made, but it certainly wasn't the worst. i wish that these companies would stop remaking every horror movie in the video store, but we need to stop paying to see them first.
Automaton transfusion was a good movie for its budget. Remakes are not a bad thing if you dont like it dont watch it right? Alot of times remakes come out good yet some will suck alot (prom night), But i mean the guy did a good job on a zombie flick with a small budget. why hate on this guy? because a bunch of nerds who have nothing better to do than talk all kinds of shit. because they cant except that maybe this movie deserves to be updated for the people who are not familiar with horror films of that time. Either way your complaining will get you no where. Glad there remaking i and glad hes doing the movie.
