While at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Arrow in the Head founder John Fallon was tipped off that a director has been chosen for Fox Atomic's 28 Months Later, the third film in the zombie franchise ignited by Danny Boyle back in 2002. The website reports that Paul Andrew Williams will be the next director to tackle the subject of the dead returning to life. You might know Williams' work from Sony Home Entertainment's release of the UK horror-comedy, THE COTTAGE, which is now available on DVD everywhere. Until this is confirmed, consider this rumor. Watch for further updates.
Lol, the second one didn't suck enough to stop a third? This still could be good if they have a script with a point to it...I trust the director, he did great with the Cottage!
Damnit this is cool news! I am OBSESSED with this series! At first I was worried my hope for a third film was a pipe dream, especially since the last film didn't fair so well in the B.O., but thankfully this thing is actually happening. Damn! This can't come soo enough! My only issue is with the direct; I don't think he's a bad choice, I just can't imagine what he's going to do with this film. "The Cottage" was an entertaining little horror/comedy flick that showed how to make a low-budget horror, hopefully he'll be able to translate that talent on a grander scale with "28 Months Later".
why do people refer to this as a zombie film, or say stuff like "dead comming back to life"? i mean sure they are great horror films but there are no zombies in them
They refer to them as zombies because they are zombies. It doesn't matter if they didn't die first, they're still zombies. Beings who were once human and now like to eat human flesh; sounds like a zombie to me. Anyways, hopefully they do decide to make a third film.
For everyone who hasn't the knowledge about zombies, let's clear the cloud of confusion. Zombies don't have to be deceased to be a zombie. Traditional zombies according to voodoo belief is the reanimation of dead cadavers. However, a person that exhibits peculiar behavior or personal resemblance to the undead is considered undead. On that note I hope 28 months later is better than the second film of this franchise. I have 28 days later, thought it was good although not compltete original. This was not the first introduction to running zombies. As far as 28 weeks later I kept falling asleep everytime I attempted to watch this one. Painfully dull.
I love 28 Days Later. 28 Weeks Later was pretty good. But now I'm starting to wonder how long they're going to draw out the series... 28 Months Later, then 28 Years Later, and maybe even 28 Generations Later: Still Ragin'. That would be better than a prequel though, huh? 28 Days Before. Haha.
AWESOME!!! i get SO excited every time i read a new bit of info on 28 Months Later! DAYS & WEEKS are 2 of my all time favorite movies (especially WEEKS!) so i can't wait for the 3rd chapter. "The Cottage" was pretty good, but i kinda wanted Danny Boyle to direct this. although i'm just glad the movie is moving forward. i have faith that Boyle & Fox Studios made a great choice of director for this (i assume it's both parties that decide on a director?).
I seen in a Family Video release booklet a movie coming out this Oct. 7th called "20 Years After"...does anyone know if it is connected to the 28 Days/Weeks/Months Later?
The stuff he has his name:
# The Cottage (2008)
# London to Brighton (2006)
# "Coming Up" (1 episode, 2003)
- Naked (2003) TV episode (as Paul Williams)
# It's Okay to Drink Whiskey (2002) (as Paul Williams)
# Royalty (2001)
and he's a co-writer on "THE DAY" AKA "The CHILDREN"
anyway this possibly could be good it all depends on him
On the one hand, I love this series, and the first two are two of my favourite movies, period.
On the other, I thought the cottage was dreadful, worst movie I've seen in theatres in a while.
I have mixed feelings.
I hope it's better than the second film. The whole father stalking his child throughout the movie was completely out of context with the "rage infected" as seen in the first movie. They are supposed to be completely mindless killers, crazy with rage to the point where they won't even feed themselves to stay alive (as seen in the first movie's ending)...yet this one is silently stalking his kid like some kind of intelligent predator?!? Give me a break!
i probably need to watch the last 3/4's of 28 weeks again because i fell asleep watching it not because it was bad or anything it was just like 2 in the morning. but it sounds kinda weird 28 months is a long long time. and if they make a 28 years.....well i just hope they dont
They are demons more than zombies I think. I just want this film made.
28 Years Later maybe a stretch
28 Decades Later
28 Centuries Later
Lets do em all!
actually, Mikie, they are simply people infected w/ a virus. a rage virus. they are still alive and can be killed (shot by a gun, i'm sure stabbed, etc). i STILL consider these awesome movies zombie/infection movies. many zombie 'purists' take exception w/ that notion, though.
Not a Zombie film...period. It's an outbreak/virus film. Get it right.
That being said- I love this series as well, it's a great OUTBREAK horror film series.
