This evening marked the 6th Annual Eyegore Awards, along with the opening of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, which will be ongoing through November 1st in Hollywood, CA (read more about it here). Also on the red carpet, we had the pleasure of talking with horror legend Tobe Hooper, who chatted a bit about his forthcoming Stephen King adaptation, From a Buick 8. What's for dessert you ask? How about a little cameo by Bill Moseley, reuniting the duo of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2! Read on for the skinny!
Right off the bat director Tobe Hooper (the original TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE) updated us on his next project, FROM A BUICK 8, which is the latest Stephen King adaptation, which is being penned by John Schaech and Richard Chizmar.
“Just a few days ago I got the screenplay... it’s great" he tells SpookyDan on the red carpet. "We start casting relatively soon. It’s really cool.”
Hooper also revealed that the film is going to be pretty damn gory, giving away a pretty sweet gag that hopefully we'll someday see on the big screen.
“It’s got a little bit more visual [elements]…. there is a a vacuuming scene where someone blows smoke into something he aught not. The hair is going forward, the skin's loosening, eyeballs are coming [out]…. It’s gory, really
“[There's] a mix of CG and practical," he explains. "A little CG to touch up the flaws and then the practical. I love practical.”
But the real highlight of the night was watching Bill Moseley reminisce on his role as Chop Top in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, which directed by Hooper back in 1986.
"I loved it [working with Tobe], it was a life changing experience," Moseley says with a huge smile. "Tobe, I owe all of my career to Tobe. He hired me an encouraged me...”
Hooper plays Mr. humble giving Bill the credit.
“Bill got the job already… but when we met it him, he was in Savini’s chair with his head shaved and his appliances being twittered about with - to develop that Chop Top look... I still have that coat hanger,” he says while sharing a laugh with an old friend.
Inside Hooper and Moseley would both be receiving an award for their career achievements.
Moseley is currently lensing THE TORTURED for Twisted Pictures in Vancouver, Canada.

"Tobe doing Stephen King? Love it!"
The Mangler anyone?
Why is anyone excited over this guy anymore? Outside of TCM, he has NEVER made a good movie. And Poltergeist doesn't count.
Frogger, why doesn't Poltergeist count? Toolbox Murders was pretty good, not to mention both episodes he directed for the Masters of Horror series. Tobe Hooper's no John Carpenter, but he's not a hack either.
It's pretty well known that Hooper was suffering an addiction to heroin during the shooting of Poltergeist and that producer Stephen Spielberg basically stepped in to direct the majority of the movie. There's no denying that movie definitely feels more Spielberg than Hooper. His Masters of Horror were pretty bad, and I detested Toolbox Murders.
WOW Frogger you actually went out of you way to create an account just to post this... and no real profile to speak of... ahahaha. I would very much like you bring you fact book of proof to the table here at BD-Forums... it would be interesting to see what a non-descript person like yourself has to truly offer except your flapping ass-umtions.
Hey Frogger, you got your opinions and I have mine, thats what these forums are for! You don't like what someone else likes thats fine. Don't mimic me you dick!
Re: Proof. "In a 2007 interview with Ain't It Cool News, Zelda Rubinstein discussed her recollections of the shooting process. She said that "Steven directed all six days" that she was on set: "Tobe set up the shots and Steven made the adjustments." She also alleged that Hooper "allowed some unacceptable chemical agents into his work," and at her interview felt that time "Tobe was only partially there."[4]"

Know a little something about something before you attack others. And for someone who likes to snoop, no, I didn't make this account just to post about this. You'll see I've been making others as well. Dblock...who am I mimicking? I'm just responding...
All i know is, hooper has made probably one of the best stephen king adaptations ever- SALEM'S LOT. TCM- screw that, he can run wild with this for all i care.

Ok, I'll break it down for you..... Read what I wrote and then your response to it. Now pay close attention.... You rewrote what I wrote..... see it? Ok, now this is what I meant. Are we now clear on this? I cannot simplify it for you anymore than that.
From what I remember, the studio didn't want Speilberg directing two projects at once, and he was already working on ET, so they stuck Hooper's name in the director's spot, while Speilberg ran the show. I also remember Hooper not being very happy with that, and the way to handle stress in the 80's was herion. Back on topic, as someone stated above, Buick 8 is a horrible book. Stephen King wrote it while hopped up on pain meds recovering from being run over. I'm a huge King fan, and IMHO, this is his worst effort. You CANNOT spin this enough to be a good story, therefore I forecast a bad movie. As a side note, I swear I heard that Romero was tapped to direct this. Not that it matters. Boy that was a mouthful!
Alot of remembering there Thommy... but all hot air. Were you there? Do you have proof? Who are you also to have such a memeory of these so-called events? I love when people talk out there ass about subjects they have no real clue about. And speaking of mouthfull... i'd check to see if your not choking on your foot or something else... but i doubt the something else is big enough for you to choke on there Dr. Thom so Best of luck with your career in memory recall. Your gonna need it...
Bobby, I understand you have a hard on for Tobe Hooper, but you need to get over it. You asked for proof, and I showed you proof in the form of an interview with Zelda Rubinstein. And you chose to ignore it and went after someone else who made the same accusation. Sorry to disappoint, but Poltergeist was a Spielberg movie through and through. As for, "I love when people talk out there ass about subjects they have no real clue about," that makes me laugh, since you're the one doing it.
Huh. I wasn't joining a fight, here. Just commenting. Don't know what the personal attacks were about, Dr. Bloody Bobby. I like Tobe Hooper, and said nothing bad about him. I was simply stating the facts as I remember them. So suck my ass, you impotent tip-taster. :) Back to topic, Buick 8 sucks. Tobe Hooper or not.
