Bloody-Disgusting was tipped off this evening that Edward Furlong has joined the cast of Night of the Demons, the remake of the classic '80s film where a group of teens end up at the Halloween party from hell. He joins Diora Baird (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), Shannon Elizabeth (Scary Movie), Monica Keena (Freddy vs Jason), Bobbi Sue Luther (Laid to Rest), Jonathan Beach, Michael Copon and Tiffany Shepis. The remake is being directed by Adam Gierasch from a script by both Gierasch and Jace Anderson. Click the title for a longer synopsis.
"Rachael, is that you? I finally came back for you Rachael, I'm going to twist your back like mine, so you'll never get out of bed again....never get out of bed again...Never Get Out Of Bed Again...NEVER GET OUT OF BED AGAIN"-----Pet Sematary.
I think this is a good move. I've never really liked Furlong, however, this is a chance for him to fly under the radar and prove his worth. Good luck to him and the cast. This is my most anticipated film thus far for 09.
Face out.
Saw this movie for the first time just the other day and gotta say...it was absolutely dreadful. I'd read loads of reviews saying it was as good as Evil Dead 2. I thought to myself, if it's that good, surely I would have seen it by now. I was massively disappointed, apart from 2 moments: the first was the gratuitous ass shot of that girl in pink in the drugstore; and the goth girl dancing to Bauhaus in the old mansion was pretty cool, but the rest was garbage. But while I'm not looking forward to a remake, it surely can't be worse than the original.
I am guessing maybe Shannon Elizabeth was cast as the one who takes her top off? Wasnt it Lianna Quigley in the original...and I know if I am right..she took HER top off in every movie;) Ah what would gore be without breasts? Maybe it will be Edward Furlong that will take his top off? He is looking like he may have breasts now?
OK now I am just being mean....I am really just kidding you know?
There's more to gore than breasts, just like there's more to horror than gore and breasts, but that aside, the original was as campy as one could get. It had plenty of nudity, sex, cursing and gore. I don't think Edward's playing a teen. Note, if you haven't read the synopsis, all these actors and actresses look WAY out of their teens. So much it isn't funny. Think back to how Shannon Elizabeth played the teenage daughter in Thirt13n Ghosts. It wasn't believable one bit. It's like getting Harrison Ford to play a middle schooler. Or Monica Keena playing Lori, a high schooler in FvJ. Hell, most of that cast looked older than the teen years. Well, maybe with the exception of Gibb and Linderman. Horror makers have to warm up to the idea that horror life doesn't stop at the teenage years. There CAN be horror movies dealing with college students, or 30-year olds. And if you WANT to make a horror movie where teens get slaughtered, at least cast believable actors who fit the part. None of this Beverly Hills 90210/Dawson's Creek-type shit.
I just gotta say what's up with all these negative comments about Eddie? Eddie looks good to me and I'm sure he's a good father. I think he's a great actor and cool person. I'm looking forward to seeing Eddie in Night of the Demons.
