One of the coolest indie films I have seen this decade is 13 TZAMETI, which follows a young construction worker whose family is having hard times. He overhears a conversation through a hole is a rooftop and undergoes an impulsive journey that he hopes will lead to a fortune. However, to his horror, he finds himself in a high-stakes contest-to-the-death, with little hope of victory or escape. It was announced back in October of 2006 that French director Géla Babluani would be writing and directing a remake of his own film (now titled 13), which has since then gone silent. We learned exclusively that casting is now underway for a November shoot in New York and that Sam Riley (Control) is the first to have been cast. He will play Vince Ferro, the lead in the remake. Read on for the trailer of the original.
There is no reason to remake this. It works perfectly as an art house film and I suspect it is going to be perverted into nothing more than a pedestrian thriller.
I also wouldn't call this a "horror" film; it fits easier in the "extreme" category snuggled next to other realistic films like Salo, Funny Games, and Visitor Q.
I agree...the remake will probably not even come close to what the original had to show. Such an intense film. I remember when I seen the trailer a while back, I immediately went on the hunt for this flick. Really good movie.
So, blockbuster didnt have it. So I blind bought it. Definitely worth it. I wouldnt exactly call it horror. I actually thought the trailer was more intense than the movie overall, but what a great film it was. Since it's the same director/writer for the remake, I think it could be excellent and I wont put my hand up yet. I think I will definitely be giving it chance.
