This afternoon DreamWorks Pictures provided Bloody Disgusting with an exclusive first look at the official one sheet for The Uninvited, their remake of the Korean horror film A TALE OF TWO SISTERS. The poster carries a creepy vibe to it, very similar to DreamWorks' THE RING remake from 2001. In addition, inside you'll find the final synopsis for the film, which arrives in theaters January 30, 2009. Directed byThe Guard Brothers, the film stars Emily Browning, Elizabeth Banks, Arielle Kebbel and David Strathairn.

Based on Kim Jee-Woon's 2003 Korean horror film, "Changhwa Hongryon," "The Uninvited" revolves around Anna (Emily Browning), who returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathairn) has become engaged to her mother's former nurse, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks). That night, Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's intentions. Together, Anna and her sister (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their father that his current fiancee is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother.

That description of the film sounds terrible. The original was perfect. I'll stick with that.

Really? Another PG-13 Asian-Horror remake? Jesus, are we really out of original ideas? Is there a fan site for romantic comedies? Wait, no, some things are worse than death... but I'm seriously getting tired of reheated leftovers. It's almost always better the first time around. I guess the tweens need something to do on a Friday night. snoozzzzzzzzzzzz

I do like the poster but may wait for this one to hit the local movie rental shelves.

The part of the ghost coming back to warn the girl makes me wanna watch it. I'll wait for the dollar movies, though. I realize that those PG13 Asian remakes are the B-movies of this era, kinda fun to watch.

I love the original but i gotta pass on this...

I am not hopeful. There is a tradition here of mining the Asian horror scene for ideas, but not remaining faithful to what made the originals so effective. Now, the one thing I disagree with other folks here on is the rating. The original was not that gory. It was more subtle, psychological horror. I'm not sure if the rating can accurately judge whether this is going to be a good movie or not. But we'll see, I guess.

It started with The Ring, then The Grudge, then Dark Water, then Pulse, Shutter, One Missed Call, The Eye, etc. I could keep going, but trying to think of all the Asian horror films that have been remade for American audiences makes my head hurt. I was hoping this whole trend would kill itself off much sooner.

The poster for the original movie was way better than this.

Not bad, but the ToTS poster is a work of art in comparison, IMO.

I will try and check this one out if I have time. With so many new horror movies coming out Its hard to keep track of them all. And, alot of the good ones are overshadowed by the bad ones.

sounds like a female Hamlet. Cool poster though.

I have the poster for the original film, and it is much better than this. That being said this one isn't terrible. I also don't think the pg-13 rating should deter someone from seeing this film, since the original didn't have any real gore or violence that would deserve a R rating.

cool poster. I might go see thise in theatres, you can't cancel a movie out just because of the rating. Don't want to miss out on a good movie.

The poster is the only decent thing about the movie so far.

http://iconsoffright.com/news/2008/10/the_uninvited_trailer _aka_a_ta.html I absolutely loved tale of 2 sisters... can't wait to see this one... Hope it is as good as the ring was and isn't like all the other asian horror re-makes.

Wow. Is Hollywood still that desperate? PASS. I rather have an R rated film with lots of gore and sucks than a boring PG-13 with nothing to back it up.

dude. the font on that poster is the same as the font from The Ring poster. american remakes of japanese movies are never very good ((except for The Ring))... i saw the trailer, and i'm not terribly excited about this one, either.
