Update: Even more pictures have been added to the link inside! B-D reader 'Scream110' just tipped us off to several behind-the-scenes images from the set of Friday the 13th, where you can check out your new Jason Voorhees in action. In the images you'll see various still of Derek Mears on the set with his mask on and off from the remake, which arrives in theaters February 13, 2009. The pic directed by Marcus Nispel is the retelling of the original Friday the 13th about teenaged summer camp counselors that are systematically slaughtered by a mysterious killer. Jason Voorhees will wear the mask and kill, keeping the famous setting of Crystal Lake.
looks good...I'll gladly check it out...Something I wonder though..Jason died when he was 12 or 13 or something like that....how the hell did he get so big?
Here's an idea: why not make Jason a NORMAL-looking individual? You're already recycling the SAME plot for the 12th time, why not try SOMETHING different? Maybe Jason has PERSONALITY this time around. Wait, the ignortant mass won't at it up unless he looks retarded and stomps on the ground like a mutant hillbilly. Fucking lame.

it looks awesome for me man, thy brought us the old classic jason's styler from the first 3 movies..not the rotten zombie from the other ones..wich is awesome too, but what the fans like me and you and everybody else wants is the classic jason. so they did an amazing creative work here.
i like the new look overall. with these pix i don't think it's EXACTLY what his face will look like in the final product. the little flap of skin on his right eye is so when he wears the mask it's not lined up to equal alligned eyes. it's clearly a little flap of prothetics that's not even blended in to his face. so i'm REALLY looking forward to seeing what the final face of Jason will be! but i LOVE it so far!
i love stupid comments from people.
i like the idea they made his face all screwed up like it was. pics are good, i kinda wish these didnt come out so we can be surprised ya know?
DOOOOOPE!!! IM DIGGING THE FUCKED UP EAR THAT LOOKS LIKE JUST A GIANT HOLE.IM GLAD TO SEE THAT HES HUMAN AGAIN AND MOVES FAST AND RUNS.BACK TO THE ROOT OF THINGS.THANK GOD
Well mikie...it's not really what the final product is going to look like. There is a whole section of the face missing so you don't know what it looks like completed. All I know is that the hair is not as thick as it looked before. IMO this is a great combination of all previous jasons rolled into one.
Wow, a picture of maskless Jason from the new FT13th remake? Cool, lemmie see....--PFFFFFBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA HAHA! HE LOOKS LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN CHEWBACCA AND SLOTH FROM THE GOONIES! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA! HOOOOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!! *gasps for air* ok, ok...hokayyyyy. sorry, guys, i just joined. But seriously, Jason really does look like Chewie and Sloth's love child. Go figure!
That looks cool, but now it just spoiled it way too much. I'm mad now..I wanted to atleast wait until the real movie comes out, or a pic in january...what the hell..gave way too much away
I am very satisfied with the look of Jason. (Even though his face isn't completed). This movie is going to fricken rule! Please keep the news coming.!!!
The article clearly stated what the pics were of, and we chose to look. Nobody forced it upon us. Curiosity gets the better of most of us...
I like it a lot at this point. It's not as clean as the original installments, but not as rough as the later ones. I think they used all the right elements, can't wait to see a trailer (or the actual film :P).
Nothing has been spoiled for anyone, because he's NOT IN FULL MAKEUP! That's just what he wears while wearing the mask, for the big reveal, there will be a full make up effect going on...THIS IS NOT IT! So simmer down folks...
Still, the mutilated face is the oldest cliche known to horror. I don't know why they did this. And he sill looks like a retard baby, even with full make-up, I'm sure.
I for one love love love it! I like the fact the kept the image of a true Jason. How would you look if you were born deformed and lived in the woods most of your life? It's the whole point of the storyline. I read a lot of problems with this but no solutions. What would the naysayers suggest? I don't feel upset becauase of a small spoiler, I chose to look at the pics. I welcome more and more updates!
Eh, to be honest it doesn't look too special. It looks like what he is wearing is just a "Flesh Hood" and when the mask is off, it is just Derek's normal face with maybe some eye makeup, look at the outlines. The pictures are kind of dark but do you see what I mean? Especially in the first picture.
Jacques
"Still, the mutilated face is the oldest cliche known to horror. I don't know why they did this. And he sill looks like a retard baby, even with full make-up, I'm sure. "
- Do you not know the story of jason? he was a deformed child, hence why everyone made fun of him and picked on him leading to his death! Dont come here trashing the film if you dont know your facts Jaborne
DirtyD49: The storyline is the most cliche thing ever, that's my point. TTCM, ANOES...it's used so often it's ridicules. Why couldn't they have made a new less cliche story?
Seriously, people thought Jason WASN'T going to look deformed under that mask? Have they EVER seen a Ft13 movie beofre?!!! Changing everything that makes Jason Jason just for the sake of having something fresh, IMO, is the most STUPIDEST thing ANYBODY could do. You want a NON-deformed killer, I can assure you that there are horror movies out there with plenty of those. No use in wanting them to change Jason, it's so much cheaper for complainers to get off their asses, head to the video store and rent movies with non-deformed villains. And there ya go, buckeroo! Easy as that. If anything, when you remake something, you HAVE to keep the general base to what makes the villain himself. The things that make him memorable. Leatherface is always going to wear the face skins of his victims and wield a chainsaw. Freddy's always going to be burnt, have somewhat of a personality and wield a blade glove. Jason's always going to wear the hockey mask, going to wield the machete and being a major deformo underneath it. Serious, wanna make your own horror movie that's like Ft13 but without a deformed killer, be my fuckin guest, we need more horror movies out there, even if they are ripoffs.
That aside, I'm actually liking this picks more than those other ones. His long hair isn't as prominate, it's more stringy and sticks to his big ole' bald head. NECA definately screwed up on the figure, though. He looks like he's got a golden mane. They gotta work on that a bit until the get it right. This Jason really isn't half bad. If anything, the shape of his head seems to be carried over from the first Ft13, little Jason.
I agree with magnaderalpha... how can you NOT expect a deformed jason? thats just stupid and ignorant... evryone knows the purpose of his mask is to hide his deformity, without tht theres no incentive to wear the mask in the first place! as far as originality, its a remake, you have to stick to the originals mythology at LEAST...
tht said, looking forward to it and everything seems to be going good so far
I think this movie is going to be good...my expectations are now really low because of that silly ans stupid images o the character Lawrence...but whit this pictures i'm really having high expectations
i'm really surprised to hear that so many people were expecting a different (or not deformed) Jason. i thought we all knew and expected the Jason from the early films. and we're getting an awesome Jason like the early films!
and DirtyD49, you are spot on. Jason never had a lot of hair (hence no "wig"). from the get go myself and many others were saying his hair looked fuller because of the straps on the mask pressing the hair against his head and making it look fuller.
@Jacques: I haven't seen a post from you on the boards in awhile man, welcome back! Anyway, I'm just wondering but what look would you have liked Jason to have?
You know, it's not a bad idea. At the end of the film, when they rip the mask off his face, he could have a pencil thin mustache and a square jaw like Bruce Campbell in Crimewave. "So what if I'm a heel." Seriously? I'm looking forward to a new Friday the 13th, remake or not. Jason Voorhees has always been one of the best Monster killers of all time... alive or undead.
Expecting/wanting an undeformed Jason is a bit like expecting/wanting a non-furry Wolf Man or expecting/wanting a non-reptilian Godzilla. Those physical traits are part of the characters.
TheDeadMayTasteBad: A normal person. Normal kids get picked on at camp ALL THE TIME, and I don't see why they had to stoop to such a cliche as a deformed face to do that. If they're going to remake something, I just wish they'd improve the past problems instead of just making them look a little better.
Forget what Jason looks like! Look at the set! An overturned rusted bus is the woods, that is sick as hell! Plus, he isn't even in full makeup here, just enough to make it look real under the mask.
And for the record, Leatherface wore skin as a sexual thrill, not to hide a deformity. Before you argue, go back and watch the ORIGINAL. I speak not of the remake.
Anyone pissed off about Jason being big and built is a fucking retard. He has been a giant character ever since Hodder took the role. Even before that he was hardly fragile.
Ok,let's simplify it...... Jason was born deformed he will wear the hood/hockey mask to hide his face due to the harassment he endured as a child. It's the whole premise of Jason and his story. Why elase would he want revenge and brutally hack up teen camp counselors???
I love these pics alot, it gives me alot of hope we will finally get a very serious faithful and fresh take on this character and like some of you I agree that his face looks really alot like it does at the end of the first original film, when he comes out of the lake as a child.
Ok I'm sold, I thought he was gonna have a young Hulk Hogan hair cut lol but I still don't se how he had so much hair in that one pic but not here unless the other pic wasn't actually Jason, but bu the way he's dressed it must have been. I think this is gonna kick ass and in my opinion next to The Wolfman could be the best remake of all time
"They have to be warned sheriff, Jason will return to the area he's familiar, no matter what you call it, it's still Camp Crystal Lake to him"-----Friday the 13th part VI.
Jason's look in part II, resembles the Phantom Killer in The Town that Dreaded Sundown. Maybe it was a homage or some shit like that. That's an old horror flick from 1976. The 'copter pilot from the film "Grizzly" stars in it, along with Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. She's the victim that crawls to safety toward the latter half of the film. Their real names escape me at the moment. "I've never driven a house before, this is great"-----Friday the 13th part VI.
looks similar to his hills have eyes character, but without the rocky skin shit.
